Strange Lights in the Sky

Alright, first off, I am not one of those alien nuts you hear on Coast to Coast AM Radio. I do, however, live out in the middle of nowhere in the outskirts of Aztec, New Mexico. I live on a very high hill (semi-mountain) and I can see miles in all directions. Beautiful scenery by the way.

Anyways, I have lived out here all 20 years of my life, and in those 20 years, I have seen quite a few things in the sky that could not be explained. Some of those occasions, the local news claimed that they were the military testing aircrafts at night, a sort of "Silent-bomber prototype" as they called it when referring to seven lights following each other silently across the night sky.

Some of the more stranger things I have seen would include the above-mentioned lights, two sets of eight tiny lights all moving in a "Figure-8" pattern for about thirty minutes before disappearing, a very large circle of ten lights moving very fast across the sky, a "spotlight" that seemed to come from nowhere (no noise was heard) which canvased the canyon walls surrounding my house, and various lights in the sky that could not be tied to airplanes as airplanes do not leave green/blue/red/yellow streaks in the night sky.

Well tonight I saw something rather peculiar. I went outside to check on my dogs because they were barking. They usually bark at deer, coyotes, or just various smells or noises they hear in the distance. When I went outside, I saw two vertical streaks in the sky quite a distance apart of each other. As I moved from under the trees to get a better look at them, I noticed that there were two smaller streaks to the "south-east" (bottom right) of the two long ones. I also noticed that the sky was abnormally hazy with an unusual red hue to the clouds. Now, since I live out in the middle of nowhere, there is never any light behind the clouds unless there is a fire or lightning, which neither were present. After I called my dad outside to look at them, we both could tell that the streaks of light were getting darker and lighter at continuous intervals as if the red hue was getting brighter and darker. I even called the non-emergency center to see if any fires had been reported in Hart or Snake Canyon, which none had.

After about ten minutes, my dad turned my attention to three more streaks behind us (towards the Colorado state line, just above Mount. Nebo) which were considerably more faint than the other ones, but you could see them clear enough. Right before we went back inside, the first streaks that I had seen had faded, but were still noticeable.

Feel free to evaluate this as you wish or to add your own "sightings." This isn't the Topic to discuss whether or not aliens exist so please keep those thoughts and opinions to a separate Topic. Just discuss any strange things you have seen that could not be explained within any rational manner.

There could be a giant UFO parked in the sky and I'd never know it.

Did you try taking pictures of any of this stuff? You should really get into some astro-photography since it sounds like you have a terrific view from your house.

I am broke at the moment. Next semester of college is coming up to which I will have to pay for books and I just recently paid off my car. With the holiday season just passed, I am fairly tapped for cash, but I have been trying to invest in a good camera for these occasions. I have been speaking with the Astrology Professor at my college and he has even seen a few of the same lights as I have seen. Namely, the lights moving in a "figure-8" pattern and a few of the lights that left colored streaks in the sky.

Whoopdeedoo, you saw things which you could not identify. Do you similary fret about things you hear which you cannot identify? Oh noes, UNOs (unidentified noisy objects). Aliens donut enter into it. Hu-man perception is relatively weak, even given specialized edumucation. Ergo, you can either accept that or attribute it to teh gods.

i'll add this:

some pics i took a while back of a strange light in the sky, it appeared to bounce around like it was propelled by magnets.... the camera was steady, you can tell because the stars are in focus, but every pic i took of the object came out looking differently...its crazy...

Well, I read up a little on the Quadrantid Meteor Shower, but it doesn't really explain the vertical lines and pulsating light. I am off to bed for tonight so I shall resume this tomorrow to see if anything else has come up. Maybe there will be something on the 6 o'clock news.

Oh, and those are some pretty cool pictures Zane. Growing up poor, I wasn't ever able to get a good camera or even a camcorder, but I wish we would have invested in one because I would love to see those lights again.

The lights were obviously alien crafts that came to Earth. The humans in the zoo on their planet came out of the cage and mauled one of the alien kid to death, so they had to kill the humans. Now that the aliens need to get a couple of more humans to replace the dead one in the zoo.

So they came to US in their fancy space crafts and abducted a couple of humans. But this time they learned their lesson, instead of abducting men, who are usually violent because of their video game playing, they abducted a couple of women. This way the aliens can prevent the tragic event of humans escaping the cage and killing zoo visiting aliens from ever happening again.

Hey Chaoticpenguin666

I live near Grants, New Mexico and me and my wife have seen some crazy stuff in the sky as well. I took a picture of some UFOs over the Zuni Mountains near my home couple of years ago. Someone here at Anandtech suggested I post on them on the Coast to Coast website (first time I had herad of it). So I did.
