Strange "no signal" glitch

I have an interesting problem. Every 4-5 minutes my monitor pops up a "no signal" message. After 1 minute the monitor goes blank for a second, The power button flashes green to yellow (standby I think) and it comes back on. This continues on and on. I've tried to research the problem, Tried dusting out the case, making sure the card is fully inserted. Checked the connections and cable condition. Reinstalled drivers, checked all settings and even thought about a hammer! All components have been running in the system for at least 3 months with no major software updates. Ready to pull hair out!

Any thoughts?

your DVI (or VGA) cable is defective or barely plugged. (or the actual PLUGS have a loose connection) It has a loose connection causing to loose the signal, just as if you unplugged the monitor (not from the power, from the PC).
Your description perfectly fits what happens if i plug and unplug a monitor, so that is exactly what is happening. Try swapping cables

I did look at the cable and connections, I will look at a new cable though. I forgot one symptom While the "no signal" message is in the center of the screen, I can still see the rest of the desktop normally, watch the mouse pointer glide across the screen etc. Until it blanks out for the second.

It's hardware, can you swap the display to another system? See if the problem stays with the system (Video controller) or the Monitor (Monitor is bad).
