Come to think of it, did they ever figure out the noises that were happening on a global scale? Did those just stop, or what? I think they originated in Canada actually.

There are a lot of tunnels under the area that have been abandoned. There are also a lot of mines here, I have seen reports of 300+ miles of tunnels.
