Strange problem...

Hi,

Just bought myself a new motherboard and graphics card. After that I had all the parts to build two computers.
I built my main computer, and everything worked great!
Then I built the second one with some "old" parts... When I started it, the harddisks spinn up and the DRAM LED lights up, everything seems to work, but I get no beep from the PC speeker and I get no picture at all!

What could have gone wrong?

This has been discussed a million times here...

1) strip computer down to essentials...cpu, mobo, one stick of ram, and vid card. Just trying to get it to post...

2) check your case wiring hookup to mobo...then double check.

If still no post...

1) try different PS
2) try different stick of ram (go through all of them)
3) try different vid card

also try to get some of the components you are using to work on a different system...that can definitely help you to rule them out...

If none of these things work but work in other systems then you are left with mobo and cpu...and no beeps would have me first suspect mobo. I believ even with a bad cpu you should get a beep or maybe a blinking cursor on the screen...

Duvie has the right idea but wrong order

start with the ram: reseat or replace the memory.

then video: reseat and then replace.

I agree with that...hopefully that is done when stripping computer to just the essentials...checking connections are always essential and should be done first...

I agree with recommendation/suggestion. I upgraded my son's puter. Posted only 128MB instead of 256MB. Just replugged in both sticks and everything is working fine.
