Strange Program

Regedit under startup reports:

pcmp3 - C:\WINNT\Driver Cache\pcmp3.exe

It loads w/Windows. I cannot remove the registry entry because it just re-appears on boot. It's loaded in the memory and will not allow me to end. Norton/The Cleaner/Adware/Spybots & even Norton's online virus/trojan scanner report nothing. Any ideas on what this is?

uhh i don't know this file but i don't trust it, as it's not standard practice for anything to load from the driver cache on startup. but i HAVE seen a few IE hijacks that randomly generate a filename.exe that is located in ..\driver cache\ , your homepage hasn't mysteriously changed has it?

i don't think its an official microsoft file, so it sounds like you may have gotten a brand spankin new virus/malware. alot of hijacks arent detected by any spyware/antvirus progs.

if it were me, i'd boot into safe mode, and remove both the file and the registry entry... and if it still comes back, you've got problems
