That's because it's not as good.

I thought it was - but it wasn't as fresh anymore. Remember we've already seen season 1. I think anyone who saw Season 2 at first would think it is just as great if not better. It's just a matter of familiarity - everything was a big unknown in the first season and so between great pacing and the human element of wonder, it might not be as striking. Season 1 was really quite the surprise phenomenon, and I think no matter what S2 shaped up to be, it would rarely satisfy the hype.

I agree that Season 1 was better, but I thought Season 2 was damn good still.

Their trajectory over the 3 seasons would lead me to believe that that will not happen.

I will be surprised if I even watch season 4 since the seasons have gotten progressively worse.

So long as the showrunners have an actual 4-5 season arc and aren't building the car as they drive it, we should end up with something fairly satisfying.

Stranger Things is a solid 80's nostalgia bomb and I have thoroughly enjoyed the show playing on all the 80's themes (even the cringe worthy 80's punks with hearts of gold thing was true to form, even if it was the weakest element of S2). S3's shady politicians/Red Menace/Guys-in-suits-killing-small-town-America thing was superb.

El without her powers/regaining her powers should make this upcoming season have higher stakes, although I've enjoyed how relatively tame the show has been thus far.

I have liked all the seasons. I will be back for more. Now, I grew up in the 80's about the same age as those kids so I really can relate to the show.

There are a lot of shows that have jumped the shark but I am too heavily invested in not to finish the series. Walking Dead, Lost, Twin Peaks, Mandalorian, Umbrella Academy, etc all have or will get worse over time but I will stick with them till the end. I need to finish what was started.

What I hate are shows the die too soon. I was really getting into Away, about the trip to Mars with Hillary Swank. That show was cancelled after one season, the last episode they stepped foot on Mars. Now I will never know if they survived and then got back to Earth. Damn it!

The forced romance and increasing 80s nostalgia references get more and more cringy as the seasons progress.

S3 had lower lows and dragged a bit and I'm very meh on the Soviet stuff, but it had enough to stay compelling. Robin was an excellent new character and her and Steve in a video store should be good nostalgia fun. And the Susie situation was perfectly setup and paid off. Even Erica ended up being pretty great, after seeming like she might be an intentionally one note irritating character. What's his face (the reporter that translates the one Russian scientist) was ok but that whole part of the season really dragged for me. My only real issues is that Dustin, Max, and El flourishing at the expense of Mike, Will, and Lucas, culminating in Will full on giving up on DnD (I don't even care about DnD myself, but it was a pretty decent way of stringing things together).

I know someone working on it. It is still filming.

I'm guessing COVID threw a pretty big wrench into things for them? Seemed like they were hinting at an X-mas time (which, while the first season aired in what spring while being set in I think fall, the seasons 2 and 3 were timed for around the season they were set).

Just talked to him. Filming scheduled to end in July. He had talked this summer that they might film seasons 4 and 5 back to back because of the loss of time(they didn't start again until September). Next time I talk to him I'll ask whether July end date is for both seasons or just season 4. They were were filming tonight when I called and we got cut short. I think it usually goes quicker, but I remember him saying they get tested everyday, and had strict protocols with personnel on set. Maybe that's slowing everything down.

Watches S4E1 last night. Dayum ST is back. Getting hard to believe these "kids" are as old as the show claims they are, we're getting pretty deep into Steve Bucemi "Hi fellow kids" territory here.

If E1 is any indication, we're off to a strong start. Likes like one major thread of S4 will be a Freddy Krueger/Nightmare on Elm Street homage.

ST has never been for those faint of heart, but the opening sequence and the closing sequence of the first episode are tough to watch. The opener especially almost got my wife to bail on me, the closer got my wife putting her foot down "one episode a day + a cleanser show"

Ok, watched the first 7 episodes. S4 is a lot closer to S1 in tone. Generally much darker and gruesome than S2/3. The long episodes are great and give the character pairings some time to breathe.

Love the Teen Slasher Flick / Carrie /Nightmare on Elm Street / Satanic Panic vibe this whole season has put down so far, truly superb. Last couple episodes leaned a bit too heavily into the "Character acts stupid for the sake of advancing the plot" but it wouldn't be a slasher Flick if they didn't.

Lot of questions to be answered in the two final feature film length episodes. Top of mind for me is where the heck is the Mind Flayer while all this insanity is going on?

Finished the most recent Stranger Things season 4 part 1 last night.

This is by far the best season since season 1. 2 was alright and 3 was weaker than 2 and was kind of silly.

First 4 episodes of season 4 were awesome. I loved everything about them. Then it kind of started to be a bit more far fetched and super convenient, and one of the stories is a bit silly how everything is working out, but I liked how they wrapped it up in episode 7 and I can live with how things went.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I got around to Moon Knight, finished up the last two episodes last night. Much better than I was expecting.
