Not a LOL, more like a WTF. He wasn't that tough of a guy, and I don't think they foreshadowed any proficiency with a bat. Maybe they said he was a baseball player and I missed it.That monster in general was kinda strange when it came to damage. The bat hurt him, but bullets didn't, even submachine guns. And its not like it was a supernatural beast or anything, just extra dimensional.
It seemed fire and nail-studded bat did put quite the hurt on him, but it almost seems like it wasn't going to be killed by anything from this dimension. When it felt incredibly hurt, it seemed to just drop back into the other dimension to lick its wounds. Perhaps a little inconsistent, but perhaps bullets just weren't doing anything but annoying it while fire really put a hurt on it. But if the bat hurt him, even a little, you'd think the constant firing from many submachine guns would at least slow it down.
They made it seem like there was only one, but in a way, it certainly seemed like there were more. When Nancy went into their world, I swear she saw more than one - she walked away from one eating, and ended up backing into another.
But I have a feeling that, one or many, El's thought was, her touching it when she was in what might be called the in-between (perhaps inside the rope? lol) seemed to be what opened the gate, and perhaps she thought doing something crazy, with her mind and it, might close the gate and either take it out for good, or take them back to its world. Gotta wonder if she's alone in that other world, or if she's dealing with those things. At least she has the upper hand!
Definitely curious what that could mean for the parasite that got coughed up. Would these things be trapped in our dimension? Could they punch through whenever they felt like it if they started on this side?
And thinking about that, it definitely suggests there are multiple creatures, perhaps even multiple types. Will was going to be a host for another beast to hatch out of it seems. So it wasn't so much that El wanted to kill the one, I think she wanted to kill the gate that she accidentally opened.
And dammit, I'd love to know what Hop talked about with the suits.
