I finished it this weekend. Seemed like a remake/re-imagining of Steven Kings IT.
I disagree. It is much better than IT.

Almost nobody cared about what happened to Barb.
Haha, yeah, I thought the same thing by the end. Her family didn't even seem to care.
KT
who was that?
Barb was the girl who got taken when she was on the diving board of the douchebag boyfriend's pool.
My ideas on how break up the seasons:
S2: in the 90s, boys are grown and in college when things become strange again, similar to the first season.
S3: in the 2000s, Government is trying to secure the "upside down" to have a way to move troops undetected. Story follows a squad trapped when things go wrong.
S4: Current day, "upside down" has been tamed, people regular use it for transportation and storage. If you want to take the express lane on the highway, you take the exit onto a gate and then back off later down the road. But in the background there's an evil gathering.

they are remaking IT BTW
Oh no, a Juggalo!Yea and unfortunately, I think they missed the point by a mile.

I was thinking the other day what I liked about the characters stranger things.
Almost all of the adult cast, with the exception of Matthew Modine, starts off as a stereotype that is then subverted as their story progresses.
Joyce goes from freaking out single mother on the edge of hysterics to an afraid but tough mama bear whom neither conspiracies nor interdimensional monsters will stop her from getting to her son.
Nancy goes from the brainy suburban girl to a gun toting bad ass.
The two biggest examples were Hopper and Steve.
Hopper starts out like an aging alcoholic lazy cop and ends up winning the no fucks given award once he decides he's saving Will regardless the cost.
Steve was the biggest suprise. Biggest jock douchebag since Johnny "sweep the leg" in the Karate Kid. Turns out to actually care about Nancy and does his part to save her and Jonathan.
(Also did anyone notice how many folks ran out of the Byers house to stop in the drive way and decide whether they should stay or should they go now. Thought that was a nice touch)
If you liked this, watch 11.22.63 on Hulu. It's another 8-part miniseries. Stephen King is actually credited as an executive producer, along with J.J. Abrams.
I'm 3 episodes in, and this show is WAAAY better than Stranger Things. Don't read anything that even spoils the premise of the show. Just watch it. It's better that way.
That's all I will say!
Yeah I would be surprised it is as good as Stranger Things too.
That was one of the best things: almost all of the characters evolved so much during the story. And yup, I couldn't stand Steve the entire time, but really, it was his friends that spoiled him, he was better than that and it took him some major events to figure that out.
Well Season 2 has been confirmed.
Yeah man, was so distracting watching Steve. I kept thinking "that's young Benny Schwaz from House of Pies"!!Well Season 2 has been confirmed. Steve becomes the father of Jean-Ralphio from Parks and Rec:

What an endorsement to continue. I'm scared to read the posts here because I want to avoid spoilers, but we're through episode 5 and so far we're absolutely engulfed and loving so much about it.Dead of Summer looks ok but not great.
Nothing will ever beat Stranger Things!
