Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, nobody got hurt. It was a publicity stunt to promote a website. On the other hand, at what point do you cross the line into serious jail time like the Iraqi reporter that threw his shoes at President Bush.He may streak it rich.
A formerly homeless, aspiring video-game designer from Staten Island is the man who shed his clothes and took a naked run at President Obama over the weekend.
And the stunt could make him a millionaire.
Juan Rodriguez, 24, stripped off his clothes at a rally in Philadelphia Sunday, shouting "Battlecam.com" just 40 feet from the leader of the free world, in accordance with the terms of a $1 million challenge laid down in August by Internet mogul Alki David.
After seeing the video, David said yesterday he is still trying to confirm that Rodriguez met the requirements for the prize -- that he was within eyesight and earshot of Obama when he made his nude dash.
"It looks good so far," the 42-year-old billionaire told The Post.
Originally from Britain and born into a super-rich Greek family, David has made a name for himself in various online ventures.
Rodriguez said after his arraignment last night there was "no way" anyone could say he hadn't earn his pay.
"I started about 10 feet from him [Obama] and removed my clothing and started backpedaling to where cameras were.
"I made sure to be pretty loud and prominent" and then "I just knelt down and put my hands behind my head and waited for someone to put the handcuffs on me," Rodriguez said.
The father of three, who was charged with indecent exposure and lewd behavior, said he has no regrets.
"My family needs the money, my sister needs an operation and it's not cheap," he said standing barefoot and wearing white scrubs outside the Philadelphia courthouse after being released on $10,000 bail.
But Rodriguez said he would also donate money to help his favorite Internet café in Brooklyn and to Obama's favorite charity.
David said the stunt was designed to promote his new Webcam reality show/social-networking site, Battlecam.com, and represented no actual criticism or threat to the president.
"A naked man would have to be pretty well-endowed to be a threat and, as we can see in the video, that was not the case here," he said, taking a jocular jab at his million-dollar man.
A Battlecam.com regular, Rodriguez was one of several people to offer to streak the president, David said, but he was the only one to pull it off.
The Stapleton man offered two friends $25,000 each to take videos of the streak, but as the day approached they backed off.
He was then put in touch with Joey Boots, an administrator on the site and longtime Howard Stern prankster.
Rodriguez wore sneakers with no socks, a T-shirt, shorts and a sweatshirt.
The outfit had seams held together with Velcro, so after kicking off his shoes he could take all his clothes off in "just one swoop," Boots said.
"I started filming him and followed him through the crowd. It was definitely within eyesight and earshot of Obama," he said.
Secret Service and Philadelphia police thwarted the wacky ass-assination. They subdued Rodriguez in a prone position and an officer put his knee on his back.
All Rodriguez was thinking was, "Don't Tase me or don't shoot me," he recalled.
