Is there a way I can stream Hulu to my TV without directly connecting my netbook? I have a Samsung UN40FH6030 TV. I also have a Sony BDPS2100 BDP, but it only supports Hulu Plus. There are no TV's, BDP's, or set to boxes/dongles that support Hulu, are there?
My TV does support Samsung's Allshare. Can I get a bluetooth adapter for my netbook and stream this way somehow? It's not Smart, so it doesn't have WiFi at all, does it?

Is there a way to add Hulu to the BDP (hacked firmware?)?

And is PlayOn just a front end for a storage server?

I assume you have a desktop or non-netbook somewhere?

If so, simplest solution: buy and attach a Chromecast. Go to hulu.com in Chrome on your PC (or even Chromebook). Use tab casting to put the video from that Chrome tab onto your Chromecast.

Hulu doesn't officially support non-plus Hulu streaming outside of a browser. There is a Hulu plugin for XBMC that *mostly* works. XBMC, in turn, can be loaded onto something like a Raspberry Pi.

Honestly, though, you're probably better off getting an HDMI or VGA cable to attach to your TV.

Since it "mostly" works, what kinds of problems does it have? The Chromecast would be cheaper.

What about streaming it from my 1st gen Nexus 7, or old Android (Gingerbread) phone?

There's often a bit of downtime in app functionality between when the site makes changes and when the app is updated to accommodate them. Searching and navigation aren't as easy as on the site, but this can be ameliorated by subscribing to your favorite shows. On the Raspberry Pi in particular, the software operates at the edge of the device's computing power, and thus the menus are a bit slow (video is fine, though).

As for the Android devices, the main limitation is connectivity to your TV. Does either device have an HDMI out?

That's the biggest problem with Hulu and i hate it. You can watch free all you want on PCs and LTs but on all other device only Hulu plus works which is PAID... what the... its their loss imo

Tab casting gets choppy for me, i have dual band router and all that but it never works smoothly for the entire length of movie or show...

I have a 1st gen Nexus 7, which I don't think supports HDMI out. I tried reading about it once, and it was pretty involved to get it to work and people were arguing about whether it could be done or not. I can't remember much about it now. 2nd gen supports it natively.

Something with nonzero CPU. Tab casting takes some processing power.
Thanks. It's an Acer AO722 with AMD Dual-Core C-50 @ 1Ghz, turbo 1.33GHz.

I actually have a Toshiba C55-A5300 with Celeron 1037U 1.8GHz new in box, but am debating whether to open/use it or sell it. Many people have problems with it's WiFi. And I really want something faster, and higher res (it's a 15" with only 1366x768), and am leery of Toshiba.

or you can get Hulu+, it can be free. Using Bing Rewards you can pay for the Hulu+ subscription, and all you need is a 'Bing Rewards bot' (google for it).
Yes, Hulu+ has commercials, but so does cable and you pay for that too. It's actually better than cable since in most cases you only get like 2 or 3 commercial breaks, of 1-2 30-second commercials each.
I still wish it didn't have commercials though, I wouldn't use Hulu+ if I had to pay for it, but free? that works for me!

Hulu is an experiment by a few major players in digital distribution. The arbitrary restrictions (like mobile systems can only use Hulu Plus) are tied to their fear of the platform.
