Do you guys know if there's a way to share the alternate costume downloads with other accounts on PSN?

i'd assume it's the same way you share the other stuff, let someone else get onto your psn account and go to your download history and grab em.

I'll be on this weekend! Probably Saturday night for a bit, and Sunday night as well. Let's play man! I'm going to whiff on a lot of supers with this Dualshock3 so don't mind those - just pummel me when it happens

My concern is because the data is already on the game disc. I dunno. I'll try it.

it's not on the disc, it was what was included in the update that was mandatory on launch day.

What stick do you have? You may know this already, but if you have a stick, it's important to NOT ride the gate. Only go far enough so that the direction registers. Riding the gate just slows you down. Extra distance you have to travel.

HRAP3. And yea, I realize that. I gotta get better with it in that respect. I notice myself riding it way tooo much.

Have you modded it in any way? The JLF Ultimate Mod is a way to shorten the throw and reduce the deadzone. I did it and it's been very helpful. I also have a HRAP3.

I thought you had to hit down only once right before hitting the ground. Maybe I'm wrong.

You could be right! I'm used to tapping down twice from Third Strike to roll back when I got knocked down. I'll try it later tonight.

You can also just push all three punch buttons at once right when you land.

heh yea, there are 3 ways to do it.

-tap down when you hit the ground.
-2 punch buttons
-2 kick buttons

So can anybody tell me if there is a way to block Akuma's ultra? I've fought him 5 or 6 times online now, and every single person gets their ultra on me. I can actually hold my own until the ultra comes into play, but I can never block it. When it starts, he slides towards you and I guess grabs you, then the screen goes black and you get hit all to shit. I've been blocking when he slides up to me, but I guess if it's an actual grab, then that doesn't matter. And everytime an Akuma ultra has started on me, I've been pretty close and there's absolutely no time to react after the beginning animation. It seems like if an Akuma player starts their ultra within a certain distance while you're on the ground, then it's guaranteed to hit, because you have no chance of jumping away or blocking.

The last Akuma player I played a few minutes ago hit me with his ultra in the first round, but I was able to come back and beat him in the second and third round, basically because he didn't use his ultra. I've been using Sakura for the all of my recent online matches, and I really like her. Her charging dragon punch throws off a lot of people because of the distance she covers to start it. I've also tried to start encorporating some focus attacks and EX focus attacks, which actually work quite well.

no way to block akumas ultra or super.

you have to avoid or counter it. i've noticed that jumping back and using a fierce kick as you are landing is probably the best way to avoid it, unless you want to try and counter it.

it is pretty cheap that you can time the ultra and do it as someone is getting up to make avoiding it impossible, however there is still like a frame or few that you can counter it.

the problem is the timing of countering it is tough because the camera angle changes when it begins and can throw you off.

in all honesty i kind of wish they didnt have ultras in this game, i feel they are WAY too overpowered and can help people out of trouble and there are quite a few fluke wins because of them.

when i'm playing someone who i can tell just is not that great, as soon as they get their ultra i start to keep a distance, because 75% or so of the time, these people try to use their ultras as soon as possible. then they use it and waste it, and i go to town on them.

Just modded with Seimitsu buttons. I'll have to look into that mod!

I just leave mine open haha. I tinker with it pretty often and I'm too lazy to open and close it.

Reducing the dead zone and throw really help with execution. You can do motions so much faster and not have to worry about riding the gate.

So the available frame to counter is right after the animation finishes and the camera is swinging back around? So I'd basically be able to hold up+back and mash on the kick button and possibly get lucky?

While I like the ultras, they do suck sometimes. But like you said, every now and then you avoid one and it leaves them wide open.

I was playing a Chun Li last night in the 3rd round, and they started her ultra which I was able to jump over as she was charging. Well, Chun Li keep kicking and moving across the screen, which I didn't know, and kept chasing her with kicks because I didn't know she'd keep moving. I played another Chun Li this afternoon, and avoided the ultra again, but this time I just followed her across the screen, and as was able to land a nice dragon punch as she was finishing up.

well by "counter" i was referring to say, doing a dragon punch as Akuma slides as you.

the "frame" stuff I was talking about is if the opponent does the Ultra as you are getting off the ground, so they time it perfectly so Akuma is sliding right next to you right as you are getting up.

at that point is when you have a VERY short window of opportunity to do a dragon punch (or the like) to counter it, however it seems virtually unblockable if you are in that situtation.

i've noticed though a lot when I am doing my ultra as akuma, that most of the time if the enemy is standing, they will jump back as I'm approaching them and press fierce kick as they are landing, and usually i'm close enough to where the fierce kick hits me.

even if the jump + FK misses (because akuma hasn't slid close enough to them), i've seen a bunch of people immediately sweep, and that also has hit me before.

Ahhh, ok, I see. I think my problem was that the first few times, I didn't know it was a grab and kept trying to block. But then people started their ultra from a bit farther away and I was able to actually see him slide over and grab. I should be better prepared next time, then, thanks a lot.
