if i'm strictly playing to win, probably ken or akuma.
my "2nd tier" guys would probably be balrog, vega, ryu, sagat.
i'm okay with guile, blanka, honda, and okay with zangief.
however i'm currently only picking dhalsim and starting to get pretty decent with him.

Akuma is currently my top choice, Gouken would be second. Honestly not terribly fond of either, but the huge speed changes made ChunLi nigh unplayable for me, and Vega is just a joke now. Cammy or Fei Long are in the speed range I like, but not fond of their move sets.
Seth for someone who spams his moves and has good timing is an absolute beast to go against, he just requires significantly more skill to play competitively IMO(more then I have for certain ).

why you say vega is a joke?
i've won a good amount of matches as him.

I want to get good with Zangief or Dhalsim. It seems 99% of online players play ryu/ken/akuma/sagat so it would be nice to have a good zangief or dhalsim to counter. Can anyone point me to a good Zangief guide?

peritusONE, is there anything in particular you're not sure about with terminology? Or is it just everything in general?

For me, I've learned a lot, but it's like a 1st grader trying to read. I have to go really slow and repronounce a lot of shit in my head.   I've learned the c.* type terms, I know what a meaty is, stuff like that.
The only thing off the top of my head that I've seen too many times and have no idea what it means is the term "footsies". I'm assuming it means players who try to sweep each other or something.

I got a question regarding dhalsim, i played a guy who would do this move where he stood one one foot with dhalsim to dodge my tiger shots. First i thought this was a taunt that doubled as a dodge but im not sure what this move is and to my knowledge its not on the command list for dhalsim. Anyone know what this is?

It's called 'yoga tower' and yet it's a move, just not a 'special move'. I believe it's down+3xP to do it.

Pokes and footsies refer to when you stick out normals in general and not necessarily sweeps. You tend to stick out normals that have good priority to control space/prevent your opponent from walking into you to throw you/kill you.
There's a difference between the two but it seems rather... vague. Pokes are meant to do damage to careless opponents, or at least force them to block/get defensive. Footsies are more about doing damage by beating/stuffing an opponent's attack due to the footsies' quickness/priority.
I'm pretty sure a normal that's a good poke is also good for footsies. Good pokes/footsies vary by character (ie, Rose has her low strong), and their importance also varies (Vega relies on his pokes a lot more than a shoto).
