I won it, and it's always my policy to keep playing until I lose just incase I can get that 3 ranked win achievement. Well, I lost the next one, and for some reason, I told myself just one more. I somehow managed to go on a tear and win my next 5 matches!! So I got two achievements instead of one (never thought I'd ever have a shot at get the 5 win streak). I also got my BP all the way up to 613 before losing my final match of the night to a really low ranked Sagat, who was much better than his BP of around 100 suggested. He zoned the shit out of me and blocked when needed. So I ended the night at 533BP, but much, much better than my previous high of 291BP before I started playing tonight .

I just finished couple hour session online. My win % with Zangief has climbed to 75% in about 150 matches. I'm winning about 80-90% of regular player matches but probably like only 45-50% on ranked matches. Competition is much tougher on ranked, and you see more variety character plays like Balrog, Bison, Vega, Blanka, Sakura, etc instead of the boring Ryu/Ken/Akuma drones. I played against very good Balrog and Bison who humbled me on ranked matches.

Capcom really did a good job with the online play with SF HD remix and this game. I wish Sega would learn and include a good online play with the next Virtua Fighter game.

well last night i had an off night

i was playing ranked matches and lost like 4 in a row and ropped like 300bp points just for that.

the frustrating part was that the people i lost to i could have easily beat i was just off my game. i think it is because i'm trying to practice and land some combos w/akuma and trying to use the focus attack more, and I was getting flustered and just missing most of my stuff.

i don't know wtf was going on, it was just one of those off nights heh.

EDIT:

also one thing that i just do not understand...

i go into some player matches, beat the guy 2 times, and they quit. that seems to happn most of the time. i rarely get into good matches w/people where i can keep playing like 10+ matches in a row.

i did have this one good set of like 10 matches last night which was fun, but most times its like i win once or twice and then the person quits.

personally, if someone is kicking my ass, i want to continue to play them to try and figure out how to beat them. it is like people don't understand that they won't get better by playing people they can easily beat.

Yeah it seems real easy to have an off night in SF4. The timing is so stict that if I'm a little off everything goes bad. I'll practice Sagat's j.hk->c.mk->Tigerknee->super and get it so I can do it everytime. Come back next day and have to practice it for 30 minutes before I can even do it once.

I need to add you for some player matches.

I hope to see you guys on this weekend. Looking forward to more matches with PeritusONE too.

Yeah, characters like akuma, vega, you're much more prone to having an off night due to how little defense they have. A graceful Akuma is very very dominant, but letting your guard slip even once and you can lose 1/3 of your health bar.

I main Sagat too. I'd say up until 2500BP, you can win by just turtling with tiger shots and punishing jump in's with straight up HK. No need to use DP unless you do it on wake up against their jump in. Rush down tactics like the one you stated are handy if you know them and are almost necessary against Akuma's, vegas and other keep away characters, but sometimes I play so defensive the other person gets frutrated and comes right for me.

Also one other thing, I don't often use sagats super. I personally save the meter for EX tiger shots and FADC's.

Online play is quite lame. Serious lagfest with ragequitters and people that message you nasty things when you win.

I got about 2400BP in a day, I don't think it's worth it to play online anymore lol

Make friends at SRK?

To tell you the truth, I'd much rather play in the arcade/in person.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to stop playing entirely until I can buy or build a stick. I'm not comfortable with the controller and I can't do shit with it. It's so fucking frustrating it's ridiculous. I can't pull off ultras, I can't leap with Blanka, etc.

Bah. Stupid me for not preordering a TE stick.

I was gonna suggest going on ebay, but prices for Real Arcade Pros skyrocketed to $200 or more. I just sold an HRAP3 for $80 locally too.

I wish I were as good as you guys. I still suck. I pretend I'm not a scrub because I read and practice strategies, but in a game, I'm barely even able to beat people who don't really know what they're doing. The match goes so fast and I have so many holes in my game. Sometimes I just don't know what to do.

A lot of it is being unfamiliar with different characters and how to counter them, what to do in certain situations against certain moves. It's frustrating.

I'm technically pretty proficient because for some odd reason I find practicing challenge mode combos (in this game and EX Plus before it) "soothing" (I couldn't have much live competition to play against until the HDR/SFIV... didn't know about GGPO). But when it comes to playing against live comp.... I just suck so bad.

Bah. I should stop complaining and just play more.

I'm like you, I suck hardcore as well. I'm improving slowly. The countless shotos in unranked online mode is funny as hell, I can beat a few of them now by just blocking their SRKs and then using my Abel to grab them.

I play nothing but ranked matches (unless I'm fighting someone here), and I rarely fight a Ken or Ryu anymore. The first night or two I did, but I think it's because no other characters were unlocked for most people, and everybody used "comfortable" fighters.

When I did Akuma's, it was stupidly easy. If I remember correctly, you hit LP, LP, tap back, LK, HP. One of the reasons I remember it was because I was surprised that it was a simple button tap combination.

should be back or forward, no? His super was originally (before SF4) towards.

It was either back or forward, so I guess it was forward.

SF4's input is very lenient. Akuma's ultra and super are technically 5 separate inputs, but you can hit the last three portions of the input at the same time and it will still come out.

back, lk, fp ---- those can all be hit at the same time after you hit lp twice and the ultra still comes out. The same goes for the super, just replace back with forward.

Doesn't change the fact that it's the absolute worst super/ultra in the game lol. The only two ways I know to land it for sure are after a teched grabbed or after landing a lvl 2/3 focus attack.

Also when your opponent is recovering from a move (like a whiffed dragon punch). Doesn't the ultra have invincibility frames so it can go through fireballs and other attacks?

Also, the super is with towards. The ultra is with back.

what? you're supposed to be using demon to punish things, like jump ins and whiffed moves

Epic fail for me on Saturday. I lost on what would have been my 10th ranked win in a row.
