I tried to play as Dhalsim and Balrog a lot last night. I'm actually starting to get pretty good with both of them.

I think part of it is that many people don't know how to play against them because they don't see them as often.

I think i may start playing in ranked games with them and see how I can hold up in there.

I know I'm selling my copy off but one thing that would tremendously help the ranked matches is if when you created a game you could lock your opponents based off of skill points or whatever. I hosted a few rooms and had decent luck against similar new opponents but I had several guys who joined who were 2000+ points...one of which used that E Honda guy and only used 2 moves...

$70 seems low for what most of these things retail for...I thought they were like $150.

gamestop has a madcatz SF4 fightstick for 70. it looks pretty cool. not sure how it works

There are 3 controllers.

The SF4 fightpad which should retail for like $30-40 or so (can't remember). It's a pad.

The SF4 fightstick for about $70 (there seem to be quality control issues on this one). It's a stick with non-arcade parts.

The SF4 Tournament Edition stick. This one is $150 and is supposed to be worth it (the parts are legit arcade parts and I don't think it has quality control issues but I'm not sure).

OK, question not related to tactics, what's up with Chun-Li's legs? Both my wife and I were baffled...either leg implants or she does 1000 squats a day...freakish. And Cammy seems to be going for the "tie + thong" look that never caught on.

You think normal thighs can hit as hard and as fast as Chun-Li's lightning legs?

They're part of her character. They've always been like that (to varying degrees).

It's just the art style, look how big a lot of people are.

Gouken is insanely thick too, as is Balrog and Abel. and Zangief?

Yeah but she's the only grossly disproportioned female in the game.

You really have to quote people. A random response to something way back in the thread doesn't help a damn thing if people don't know what you're answering.

You can actually set that up. Choose custom match then choose similar skill as the search priority.

I did that, I'd find 2 matches and as soon as I clicked to join one it would be full. If you don't have it set up to find a match for you it seems impossible to join one.

Weird I never set them up, I just join them. I never have issues joining if I choose custom but it does take a few tries sometimes on the quick search.

I've read the main graphic art guy has a chubby girl fetish. That's the reason for thunder thigh leg of Chun Li.

Also must have a thing for Cammy's leotard thong or "Tardothong"

So yesterday I played this guy who was like a 2500 BP. He was Ryu and I was Balrog.

He was pretty good and beat me down pretty bad in 2 rounds.

So like 10 minutes later I run into him again in ranked matches, but this time I picked dhalsim.

We each took 1 round and on the third round he had like a tick of health left and I had like 1/4 of my health left. He did his ultra when I was right next to him and i was mid fierce punch as his fireball started, and i ended up hitting him first and killing him, when it kind of locked up.

Next thign I know it said we had lost connection...

It's just pathetic that people care that much about a rank and number on here, and those are the people who's rank and number really don't mean anything.

On another note, last night I was only using Dhalsim and Balrog in ranked matches and I was doing better with them than I do with Akuma, who is pretty much my go-to guy. I think it has a decent amount to do with the fact that people don't run into many balrogs or dhalsims and don't know how to play against them. Well, and I'm getting better with them heh.

So, I finally got it this past weekend for the 360. I was going to get it for the PS3, but I played it at a 360 demo display in Best Buy and didn't have any real problem pulling off moves. Yeah, the 360 controller and D-pad aren't the best, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

I must say, the game is a blast. It's old school Street Fighter 2 but reborn for 2009. I love it. I haven't played it much yet (maybe 5 hours or so), but I really like it.

Seth is pretty cheap and cheesy, but no more cheap and cheesy than Ultimate Rugal/Shin Akuma from Capcom VS SNK 2 EO, or Bison from Street Fighter Alpha 3. You pretty much have to play a defensive battle and take what he gives you and respond to it.

I started some of the Trials last night, and I just can't get down cancels and combos. Maybe I'm just too old school, but I can't complete the Normal Combo trial for any character. I have a really hard time with cancels too. Oh, and I just could not do Sagat's "Fake Kick" move in his first trial. I must have tried for ten minutes...

I haven't played online yet either...I kind of cringe to even try, given the..."quality" of the players online. Rampant disconnecting, kids cussing, having their moms yelling at them, etc. Plus, I'm not that great, and the 360 joystick is functional but not optimal, so I would probably just lose a lot. Still, I am curious, and will give it a shot sometime soon.

All-in-all, a very excellent game! Brings back good memories of Street Fighter 2...

The only thing I really don't like is that the stages and music are very generic. It was awesome when I fought Guile as my rival once, and the old school Guile stage music was playing during the fight. Why couldn't this happen all the time? Just have the character's music play when you face them? That would be awesome...

Oh, and the new characters are extremely lame. At least Rufus is funny! "Hey, you're Ken! You have the blonde hair and everything!"

Rufus can be quite good...early on, people thought he might even be top tier, but he's dropped considerably since then. Still, you can find a lot of good Rufus videos out there. stupid diving kick. "aieee aieee aieee aieee"

I wouldn't worry to much about the online. I have played around 350 matches online. I've received 2 negative messages. 1 trash talk over mic, and 2 disconnects. Maybe I'm lucky but it doesn't seem bad. It was way worse with HD Remix.

Don't worry. I've done the fake kick and it took me 10 minutes of spamming round house (I ended up binding roundhouse to 2 different buttons so I could press both one after the other). I still don't know how I did it, and I'm very good at canceling. Canceling just takes practice but some of the cancels require certain tricks.

Also I wouldn't worry about online play. People aren't THAT disrespectful, and the bad ones tend to only disconnect/hate mail you if you're good (ie, they lose). There are plenty of bad players online also.

I played a guy who only used to moves over 2 matched with E Honda and I gave him an "Avoid this player" rep review. If someone is actually good at the game and whoops me that's fine (I played a guy who used Cammy and he slaughtered me, but wasn't repetitive super moves over and over and over), but if someone is just being a jerk/loser I might leave them rep.

(assuming he beat you, if not, disregard) If all he needed to do was 2 moves over and over to beat you then... why should he bother doing anything else?

Yeah, he did beat me, but it was just so cheap, to the point I couldn't get a move off. It was "jump in the air squash, dash move thing, jump in the air squash, rinse repeat."
