I use to love SF2. This post is the reason I am not buying SF4.

I don't understand how you came to that conclusion from that post.

I'm confused. The only thing I can possibly think you might mean is that it got too complicated?

Because mmost of the people who play online are too good/too obsessed with this game. I got sick of going on 40 game losing streaks in HD Remix where it wasnt even close.

So if you missed pre-ordering a TE stick but you want a stick when SF4 is out, what are the recommended ones? I'm assuming they rank:

#1) Madcatz TE stick
#2) Regular Madcatz Stick
#3) Hori stick

???

Here is a list of rankings. It's by no means the end-all be-all, but it's about right: arcade sticks

If you can't get a TE, I would recommend getting either the HRAP3 (PS3) or HRAP EX (X360). HRAP = Hori Real Arcade Pro. Hori makes many sticks of varying quality. Both the HRAP3 and HRAP EX have Sanwa (arcade) sticks but Hori buttons. Swapping out buttons for Sanwa or Seimtsu (arcade) buttons is easy. No soldering involved.

A HRAP EX or HRAP3 modded with arcade buttons would have about an "S" ranking.

Wow, according to that list, if you don't get a Tournament Edition stick and you have a 360, the best you can do is a A- stick (Hori Real Arcade Pro EX (360))

Thanks for the info/link. I may go ahead and get the HRAPEX/3 if I decide to get the 360 version. I have a PS3 as well but I generally prefer 360's online service better.

so basically you aren't good at fighters so you aren't going to get sf4 ... makes sense.

You could make it S by swapping the buttons for Sanwa/Seimetsu's. That's what those HRAP SA's are.

That being said.. I guess I better get HD remix and start brushing up on SF cause SF4 looks awesome. Been away from SF for a long, long time.

no point paying 200 for that

i just bought the HRAP3 for 89 from amazon
and 6 sanwa buttons + octagonal plate for 29 shipped. i wish they had a circular plate.

so for 118, you are getting the tournament stick that's sold out everywhere for 20 less than the shopcapcom deal, but you don't have the cool graphics

they only had lame colors left, i had to get red haha
i wanted to convert all the buttons to white but they didn't have it

on a side note, i just got my ps3 last night and bought ssf2 hd remix and boy not only am i rusty
but it seems EVERY match so far online, people are tick throwing....wtf that's pretty lame.
i wasn't even playing the ranked matches, just friendly ones. i'm still stuck on the old school
mentality of if i accidentally tick throw someone, i give them a throw back, and i also
give mercy rounds.. hard to break old habits.

It sounds like this may be released a little early. Game Crazy has said that the street date has been removed and they will start selling it when they get it which could be up to a week before the 17th but definitely look for it on the 14th, 15th, or 16th.

where did you hear this, got a link?

also has anyone here used a Cthulhu pcb for a ps3 joystick? I'm thinking of picking one up and wiring it to my joystick that I have for 360 so that my joystick will work for both consoles, but I'm curious to hear some first hand experiences w/the Cthulhu if anyone has used it.

I plan to do a Cthulhu based stick in the future. I'm on like a 4-month waitlist to just get a box built though.. so it'll be a long while. Until then, my HRAP3 will have to do. Many seem to like it over at Shoryuken though!

Where do you buy Sanway/Seimetsu buttons from? What are the plates for? Is it for decoration or does it determine where the joystick can move (ie 360 circle or locked into specific directions/grooves)? Sorry for the beginner questions.

You can get arcade parts from lizardlicklizardlick.

I think plates are usually referred to as "gates" (correct me if I'm wrong) They restrict the movement of the joystick. A square gate means the joystick is confined to a square, ie, if you ride the edge of the joystick around, you'll find 4 corners at up-left, up-right, down-left, down-right. An octagonal gate will have 8 "corners", the 4 from square, and then up, down, left, and right. Circular gate has no corners.

Default gate for Sanwa sticks is square. Most hardcore people say square is more precise than octagonal, but a lot of it is preference. I've tried both square and octagonal and I prefer square. Gates are only a couple dollars each so it's worth it to try both.

I already have the street fighter anniversary collection one for xbox, which i modded to work on xbox360. however after playing sf2hdr on ps3 i decided to make this compatible w/the ps3 as well.

i got 6 happ competition buttons, 2 button plugs, and 1 happ competition joystick. previuosly in my sf:ac stick i had happ concave buttons and the stick that came w/the original controller. i just figured since i'm ripping it apart and rewiring it i would just toss some new parts in there as wlel, and try convex buttons too.

if you google "street fighter anniversary joystick xbox360" or something similiar you will see links to my tutorial that was floating around the net when sf2 was supposed to come out for xbox360, it shows pics of the case and the changes i made to it.

i actually do not like the 2 rows of 4 buttons as sometimes my hands would get misaligned mid battle, so that is why i removed the last button on each row, so i was left with only 2 rows of 3 buttons but had 2 holes in it. that is also why i only ordered 6 buttons and 2 plugs.

lizardlick, they shipped pretty quick also, i paid friday, received it wednesday, they are in NC.
the stock gate on the hrap3 is square, i HATED the square gate @ the arcades and preferred the circular ones, much easier to do moves imo. the closest they had was the octagonal plate, so that should help somewhat compared to a square gate.

excellent packing also for the buttons hehe, just waiting for my hrap3 to arrive tomorrow so i can mod it and test it out
