There's also 2% cashback from Bing.com (the new Live.com). I don't know if that works with Google Checkout or not, guess I'll find out in a few days, but if it does the stick ends up being under $60 shipped.

They do have the PS3 version by the way, but it's $56 + shipping, so not really as good a deal. And there's a coupon for $10 off $100 "TJOOS" although that nullifies free shipping, so it only saves you a few bucks if you plan on buying two.

Edit: Sales tax in CA, MA, NV, OH, TN, WA

i've read many horror stories on the non-tournament edition fight stick by mad catz. they use inferior parts for that (not Japanese Sanwa brand) which jam/don't respond well after a day or so.

I haven't heard of the jamming problem but yes the buttons and stick are inferior. That's why it is half the price.

I do know there was a factory defect in early the early ones where I think a washer or nut was loose and would rub against and quickly destroy the PCB.

I own one of the MadCatz SE joysticks (just the joystick, not the whole SE stick itself) from launch and it was a washer that was causing 90% of the issues. The washers were being put in backwards at whatever factory they outsourced production to, one side is sharp and one side is smooth.
The sharp side was being put face up, simply flipping it around keeps the stick from getting stuck in certain directions and prevents the PCB from being scratched. The parts themselves seem to be hit or miss, but I already have Sanwa parts in my other sticks that I'll be using.

$60 is worth it for me for the case and PCB since I won't have to mod my T5 to accommodate a Guide button and a headset jack. It's also a little more compact than the HRAP/TE cases, which I like, but should still have enough room for a dual PCB mod.

Another issue I've been hearing about recently though is the trigger buttons will stop working and require the stick to be unplugged/reconnected to get them to work again. Sounds like that could be a flaky PCB issue and that's something I'll be looking out for.

anyone gotten to G1 yet? I'm still a bit away from it but am curious how the competition is in G1.

just fyi if you need parts
Ordered from ArcadeSpareParts.com based in Hong Kong.
Lightning fast FedEx International Priority Service shipping was $34 but their prices per joystick are $5-$10 cheaper per stick than many sites, cheaper buttons also.

dude PSN compared to XBL is like dialup compared to broadband. 3 bars on XBL means a lot more than 3 bars on PSN.

but it was fun starting w/1GP heh. i won 30 matches in a row then stopped w/over 1k.

I agree with XBL being a lot better than PSN. PSN, even if I find someone with 4 bars (I've never seen full) it still has lag. I don't really think the bars mean anything, since I've played someone with 1-2 bars and it's the same as 3-4. From what I've played on XBL, lag wasn't anywhere near as bad as the people I play on PSN.

isnt it done the same way? host/client? or does microsoft host the games for xbox? perhaps its just the fact that there are less players playing sf4 on ps3 and so there are fewer players with a good connection to you.

Let's see: You have a PS3 & XBOX 360. PSN is free and Live is not. You bought the game for BOTH systems. Not many people do the latter.

For fuck's sake, let the guy have his opinion. Not everybody's experience w/ PSN and Live will be exactly the same. If he says PSN sucks nuts on his end then it sucks nuts. Don't try to cloud up his opinion with your fanboy bullshit or Queasy will have to fix yer wagon... or at least get rid of your posts so this can remain on topic.

Anyway, yeah. I haven't been able to play for at least a month now and I'm afraid of getting back on again. I think I'll get my ass handed to me with how out of practice I am.

which is exactly why i can form a valid opinion and comparison between the two, since i've had extensive play on both, unlike fanboys like yourself who get offended when someone says XBL is better than PSN.

and man oh man, the $2.30/month that I pay for XBL really needs justification. it makes me cut out buying 2 sodas a month at work.

anyways, i should be at G1 pretty soon in Championship mode. I was back on live last night and ended with like 13.3k CP. i noticed XBL last night was very flaky, maybe cause it just got back online, but it seemed worse than usual. i posted a new replay last night against a dhalsim in a final, and you can see like 2 times that i missed the juggle into the ultra with Balrog, which i usually land like 99.9% of the time.

I'm no fanboy. I hear people talk about lag all the time but I never see it. Either my TWC RR service is superior to many others or perhaps I'm the exception. Or maybe it's not tha bad. I've also played SF4 on Live and don't see the difference. Then again, I don't buy the same game for multiple systems and don't live in this gaming universe. It's just a game, something I do once every 10 days or so.

I have the game for both systems as well and I also think LIVE is definitely less laggy than PSN. 360 version looks a lil better too with the AA that's used on the 360.

whatever fanboy, you just need to let yourself think there is a reason you pay to game online.

so I got to G1 tonight...

the competition is pretty much the same as G2. there were a few great players though. i made it to the final the first time i played G1 but lost to another balrog. mirrir match balrogs are not fun.

i played like 10 matches or so total in G1 and it is kind of hard to find matches it seems now . there definitely aren't as many games found when searching as G2, but I thought it would easily be filled since there are probably like at least 1000 G1 by now.

but i will say there is definitely more consistency in G1, and if i fuck up I pay for it. but i also have faced 2 flowchart ken/ryu's already out of the 10 matches i played.

Wow, not much action in this thread...I was in LA over the weekend (I had work there yesterday) and I was out grabbing dim sum with my cousins when I look up at the corner of the plaza and see Arcade Infinity! After the schoolgirl-like screaming subsided, they just looked at me funny. We dropped by after we ate, but nobody was in there...a couple of scrubs on the SF4 cab.

Now to see Denjin and I'll be happy.

You should go more often if you play SF4, some of the best players in the US play there. Ken I, Edma, Gootecks, and tons more. If you don't feel comfortable playing at the arcade, just watching is really informative sometimes.
