Thank you for playing with me! I managed to win a single fight!
It's amazing the level guys like you are at compared to someone like me. I want to improve at the game. Back in the day I used to dominate all comers in SF2 CE at my local arcade.
Right off the bat I can tell the standard Xbox controller just doesn't cut it. No matter how many times I've tried in training to focus cancel out of a Dragon Punch into any move (EX Fireball, Ultra) I just can't get it. Maybe my button config (medium kick and punch are the left and right triggers) isn't optimal.
Again, thanks for the match.
ggs man.
you definitely have the basics down. one thing you should work on for sure is not jumping into your opponent so much. it seemed like you did that too often.
also, work on blocking crossups . it seemed like I landed the majority of them on you no problem.
another tip - throw more. as cheap or whatever as people tihnk it is, it's effective, and you won't improve your game unless you throw more. it completely throws off someone's mixup game.
overall i'd say you should try to be more aggressive too. i notice whenever i lose to people, 90% of the time it's because i'm on the defensive too much, and sometimes it's because my opponent is just overly aggressive and mixing me up. i know it may sound like a pretty basic strategy to use, but it makes a big difference. i noticed i was chasing you alot of the time.
other than that, just work on execution. it seemed you got kind of confused about what to do when you had the chance to combo me. also, don't throw out dragon punches so often, as they are easily punishable. try to learn the FADC also, because that can make the difference between a safe DP that is blocked and a whiffed one.
not trying to knock you at all, so don't tihnk that. just trying to give you some constructive pointers on stuff I picked up when playing you.
my timing was slightly off as well, i was missing quite a few of my easy balrog combos (ending in the headbutt), and i tihnk it's cause i have been playing on PC a lot recently and my DLP that my 360 is hooked up to has tiny video lag.
we will play more again for sure. and man, you were SO close to beating me the full match when I was akuma! you couldn't even see my health when i landed that EX dragonpunch on you to end round 3.
since i main balrog and play him like 95% of my matches, i have trouble using the shotos sometimes now. i really want to learn ryu more because he's a lot of fun to play with. but going back/forth, i tend to have issues when i try to use ryu after using a charge character so long.
oh yea, also if you were using the pad you did a good job with that. i can't play this game at ALL with a pad, way too hard heh.
