Got over 1000BP finally. Its not much to most but it was an accomplishment for me.

Granted PSN is a delay fest which means you can't block if your not hosting.

I'm probably going to stick to player matches since there is too much lag and other hijinks for ranking to matter. Player matches also have better variety in character choices and gameplay strats.

every fucking sagat you play plays 100% identical. start of the round they jump back and start throwing tiger fireballs and never try to make any offensive steps. guile and dhalsim are the worst though ...

and it has nothing to do with winning/losing, it is just not fun. i've started just doing player matches and searching on same/more skilled and tend to have much better matches.

You know from experience that I'm not good haha but to me at least it always seemed a little tough to get in with Sagat. He is the best character I think but he is pretty slow so you gott be careful when mixing it up. Like it is always best if I sit and Fireball until the opponent meeses up then kill them but since I don't like to play that way, I always lose.

I got tired of Sagat and purposely ran my BP to zero so I can see how I do with Rufus. I just started learning him last night so it'll be awhile but I wanted to start him at zero bp. He actually seems more my style.

From playing and obsering some of the best balrogs in the united states, I have to say that balrog has the easiest time closing in on a tigershot happy sagat. It's ridiculous to the point where I can't really tigershot more than once without eating a dash punch, headbutt, TAP, or whatever else, then once rogs inside, it usually takes sagat lot more effort to push him out than it is for him to stay in and knock you around.

anyone got any tips for playing as zangief? i am trying to figure out how to use him. but i seem so random.

i struggle with his grab moves alot. esp the super/ultras

For his super or ultra, as far as I know you can't do it if you're just standing on the ground. It works if you're doing it right before you land from a jump or right as you wake up.

all i play is player ranked matches. ones u started getting into ranked stuff its not as fun. even though player matches are funny.. you play a guy he only plays his main while i keep jumping around. have a little fun i say.

The Jumping body slam -> Crouching low kick -> Lariat is a pretty good combo and easy to do.

You can also focus attack then Ultra by doing the motion during the focus attack animation and hitting the button right after it hits.

If you knock someone down you can trick them by jumping over them twice as they are getting up and either grabbing them after the second jump or doing a cross up.

If your greenhand will bring you right next to your opponent you can SPD right after the greenhand.

I agree. People pussy foot around too much in Ranking mode. That's why I wish the BP system was GRADE DEPENDENT. You want points, you better do it all - rush, defend, and tech. The balance in SF4 is not the balance I was expecting. The game seems to punish the people that want to rush down their opponents into mush. Parrying should have stayed in the SF series - SF4 is a step backwards.

I think you're misunderstanding the thing they were going for, they want to punish people who rush down BLINDLY. It has a Super Turbo feel in regards to how you go about playing the game, heavily dependent on being patient and pushing the advantage intelligently.

And parrying is the worst thing to come to the street fighter series.

It's laughable watching pro level players fighting down to the wire matches only to end up getting a D rank in all three categories. As it stands now, the grading system means absolutely nothing.

Yea my balrog has gotten pretty nasty too, he is my main fighter.

I'm at the point though where I'm noticing that online mode, regardless of my connection for the match, that it is lagging regardless oh ever so slightly and throwing off some of my timing. and i'm talking like a few frames probably.

i just wish I could upgrade from 3Mb DSL lol. that is the fastest possible I can get in my apartment. i mean it still plays virtually flawlessly, but as with most games, there is a differnce between online and local play, and initially i didn't notice it, but now that i'm getting my timing down better I'm starting to notice it.

I need to try to get good w/ Balrog. I've never been good with charge players but this guy looks like he can really punish the throngs of Ken/Ryus I'm up against.

Well I guess I peaked this weekend or something. Saturday at my moms place, on her psn name I was ON FIRE. I had a couple of 5 and 6 game winning streaks. Went from 200 to 1200bp in a few hours. Came home on Sunday and did the same thing for my own psn name.

I've lost every single match online since then. LOL

Isn't there a title Weekend Warrior? I may have to switch to that one and limit my play time to the weekends. Maybe the midweek crowd is too pro for me

Got through a lot of challenges with Balrog and headed online. I did better than I have been lately, but I definitely need to learn to mix it up with some jump in combos. I'm starting to time the ground attacks well and get off some decent combos often enough to get some wins.

make sure you get down the headbutt -> ultra juggle combo so that you can pretty much do it 100%. it is basically like getting a free 15% - 25% off of your enemie's health if you land the headbutt and have an ultra.

Yeah I've been trying to land that and juggle the ultra as much as possible. I can juggle pretty well in the middle of the screen and all but 1 punch hits, but at the edge of the screen I can't get more than the first 2 punches of the ultra to hit.

to juggle you don't want the 2nd punch to connect.

if you didn't know, during the ultra, if you hold KKK during his punches (he punches 5 times in the ultra) he will do uppercuts. if you don't hold anything, he does straight punches.

You want to hold KKK for the first punch and connect, then let go for his second punch, which will whiff, then hold KKK for the last 3 punches.

4 out of the 5 will connect, which is what you want, and especially the last one, cause those are more powerful.

Ohhh that's how that juggle works. I'm not much of a 'rog player. Actually, I kind of hate 'rog, but that goes back to the ST days.

Yeah I knew you could change it up like that, but didn't know the best way to go about it. I usually hold KKK when in the middle of the screen and the first couple will hit, the 2nd to last one misses, and the final one connects.

finally was able to pick up a tournament edition fight stick today. for those of you in southern california, play n trade stores have the xbox 360 te sticks in stock for 169.99. they're ripping us off by 20 bucks over msrp, but considering how hard these are to come by... each store got 20 of them. the pomona store has less than 4 left. the buena park store should have around 10 left.

Seth is lame, but I swear Gill from SF3 was way harder with his stupid regeneration super art. Well at least until I learned that a quick jab will put an end to that shit, but still he had 2 more that weren't as easy to deal with.

Seth's ultra is fucking stupid and all his ripped off moves are lame and I fucking HATE that machine gun kick bullshit.

Also, "The mark of my dignity shall scar thy DNA.." That shit is epic.

edited to be less homophobic.. LOL, retard is the new gay is the new *****

Yesterday was the first time I had people quit out of a game right before I beat them. It's pretty frustrating. It happened three times in a row. I immediately gave the people negative feedback on XBL but I'm not really sure if that ever does anything. I messaged them to to let them know what wusses they are too.
