I think the servers are just not ready yet. I read somewhere that there is supposed to be multiple betas before launch?

I'm having trouble getting on at all still.

Beta postponed until later date. Unknown timeframe. I'm super worried about the game now. If you can't launch a beta with a working server structure when it was planned ahead of time, you are in trouble. I can see if you have problems once connected like some lag spikes, problems with the actual engine and stuff like that but to have a minority of people able to get on and only in North America is pretty pathetic. There's a lot of people online being apologists about it and I don't see why. I expected problems but I also did expect a beta I could actually try as I'm sure everyone did. Maybe they can turn it around and the next time it'll be a lot better but as of right now I'm pretty disappointed in the whole thing and not hopeful. A lot of people say "it's just a beta, problems were supposed to happen". Yeah I know but when you tell people they can play in the beta test and they are stuck at the menu screen, that's just bad.

gives me more time to get my te2 dual modded to use for the next go around.

As far as I'm aware the only 100% way to do it without the 10minute disconnect issue on PS4 is a padhack using a first party controller correct? Is there anywhere trustworthy and reliable that does it as a service? I'm not that confident in my soldering skills to be busting open $60 controllers.

ive been doing a bit of research on srk and i believe there are 2 things that are needed to do it.

1. TE2 crossbone
2. PS4 pad

the ps4 pad i plan to use is wired so there is no 10 minute DC issue or anything. i'm planning on getting the hori FC4 controller.

i just ordered the TE2 crossbone and the hori FC4 controller. so i'll let you know how the dual mod goes next week after i get all the parts.

damn so amazon was wrong about the FC4. they got them yesterday and i should have it today. should have my crossbone tomorrow so hopefully i can find time this weekend to do it.

it's funny how i'm all anxious/excited to do this mod, thinking SF5 is just around the corner, but in reality i'm not even going to use the joystick on PS4 for like 8 months lol. of course i'll use it during the beta, but that will only be a few days.

but man, using the joystick for the beta will be SSSSOOOO much better than the pad. felt so handicapped with the pad that i felt i couldn't even make a good decision on the feel for the game.

even things like dashing, or going straight from blocking into an SRK, is just hard to do with the pad. so mmuch easier to do with the joystick for me.

Yeah once you are really used to a stick it's tough to transition back to a pad. Things you do easily seem impossibly hard because of muscle memory etc.

just opened up the hori pad and cut off the wires and stuff. this thing is smaller than i expected, pretty little pcb.

so this dual mod isn't going good so far. i have the pad already pad hacked and wired up, and yesterday i installed the crossbone as the directions say. i turned on the x1 and everything seemed to be working fine, however the home button isn't working.

and then if i press the lock button and it goes from unlock -> lock, it acts as if i held down the home button and it asks me if i want to turn the console off. but that doesn't happen when going from lock -> unlock, so very strange.

i then resoldered the usb points back to the normal x1 te2 pcb so that it was stock, and everything works just fine, so it's something with the crossbone.

trying to get help on the official thread over on srk but so far no one really knows what's up. but if this had worked as expected, this mod really is very simple to do.

think i might know the issue actually, talking to the creator in the SRK thread.

the 3rd pin on the left, on the top connector thing (not in the plug, the pins below it) it appears that one point is connected to the one to the right of it by a tiny bit of solder. i believe that is the same cable that goes to where the home button and lock buttons are, so i'm HOPING he tells me that if i fix that, it should just work.

Yeah it does look like there's a bit there possibly causing a short.

How would you switch from XB1 to PS4 mode? Did you have to install a switch?

yep that was the problem, broke the connection and joystick works perfect on x1 now.

the switch is going to be holding down the x button on the x1 pad. you hold it down when turning the console on and it puts it in ps4 mode. don't hold anything down and it will be in x1 mode.

ahh i see. That's nice, no extra switches to wire up and deal with.

you can wire up a switch if you want, but i want to keep the te2 clean with no extra stuff on it.

so yea, it was actually really easy. everything worked on the first try.

i strongly recommend this if you have an x1 te2 as it is about $80 for the parts and you have the solid joystick to use on both consoles.

necalli footage is offscreen unfortunately. i'm really liking the vega sound effects for his attacks. they actually sound like they have some weight to them and metal. kind of reminds me of fulgore's sound effects in ki.

beta is working now. was an update last night and today it is working. appears to be an internal stress test but it's working. played a few matches online.

damn this game feels A LOT better with a stick over pad.

matches are coming like back-to-back right now. had like 10+ in a row. netcode seems to be worse this go around. i hope this is due to it being part of the stress test.
