So I recently got one of those 9800Pro referbs from Newegg, it was just too hot of a deal to pass up. I've heard people have had problems with artifacts, and I need some help to make sure that mine doesn't have any. Artifacts from what I understand are weird patterns and stuff that shouldn't be there right? I installed my card and when I loaded up FarCry I had some problems with lines in the water. It was like blue zig-zaggy lines all across the water. Oh crap, I got artifacts? I load up UT2K4 demo, and everything is fine. Aquamark3 looks perfectly fine. 3dMark03 also looked ok. Call of Duty Demo crashes, randomly refreshes the screen, and eventually it says the VPU crashed. Oh crap some more. However, I installed the latest ATI drivers and turned off fast-write. I have not had a problem for about 2 hours of gaming. I obviously intend to test the crap out of this for the remainder of my warrenty period. My question is what other things can I do besides play a lot to make sure that I have a good card? Also, what things should I be looking for? Are they obvious things like a huge checkerboard pattern across the screen, or are they small things someone might miss if they aren't looking for it? I tried searching but didn't see any relevant info. (Maybe I'm just a bad searcher!)
