Link is gone, fox302.com has gone down.

Update: Well I tryed overclocking but I can't get past 2.2 without running into trouble. My 2nd core is holding me back.

I bumped up the Vcore to 1.4 and the lowered HTT to 3x but still won't pass Prime95.

I have a DFI NF4 Ultra-D, OCZ plat. Rev 2 1GB, OCZ 450W modstream PSU.

This new DFI Bios has me in over my head. I've been trying to find guides on the web for the BIOS but so far only a guide for the Ram. Can anyone give me some tips on this BIOS?

Edit for Update #2: The random crashes were NOT from Overclocking. I had given up on overclocking and was more concerned with the random crashes that were happening before and after trying to Overclock.

Update #2: Some how my HDD got corrupted to the point I couldn't boot or reinstall windows. Thankfully I was able to get windows loaded onto a spare HDD I had sitting in my Mac doing nothing and so I got that running a grabbed the files that I needed off my corrupted HDD.

I'm thinking it's down to the hardware (CPU or Motherboard) or bad drivers that was causing the random crashes and ultimately, the corrupted HDD. I'm reinstalling windows and I'm going to try this again.

And as far as the overclocking goes...

F*** it.

Yes but I was having issues with my computer locking up and I wanted to make sure it wasn't the CPU or mother board.

I think it may be the fact that I have a crappy PCI video card in there until I can get it replaced with a better card.

I just got it and I don't want to risk frying it.

And so far I don't see the need to overclock it. I was testing it with sony vegas and it was playing and rendering HD video like it was nothing. Creams my old 3200+

But thats not to say that I'm tempted to O/C.

Keep us posted

Also, unless you are changing vcore, you can't possibly fry it

Edit: Never mind. got it worked out.

Lot of X2's seem to getting at least 2.4 at default volts... Just Bump the HT and see what happens..

Buddy, i would recommend, making sure your memory speeds are timings come all the way down...

try a mem speed of 1/2, and set it to like 3-3-3-8 on a 2t comand rate.. and make sure your memory is running at something like 2.6volts.

then try and bump up the speed in graduals..

I found my chip, was being stressed too hard on the mem controller... and with all amd, clock speed rules all, once you've found a fast cpu speed, then, bump up the memory untill you start failing prime95 x2...

That was the first thing I did. I tried messing with the Ram but it doesn't help.

Also while I was messing around I got the BSOD so I was like "ok, **** this." rebooted and cleared the CMOS but I kept getting BSOD. Finally got it to boot and I *think* it's ok for now.

I'm starting to think I have a bad chip since it has been crashing all over the place for no good reason ever since I got it.

Or maybe my Motherboard or 450W PSU are to blame?

Wow.

It seems everywhere i look i see issues with configuring DFI mobos.

Methinks only extremely experienced users should be buying them based on what i've seen.

I knew it was for experienced users when I first started to look at the DFI boards. Mainly I was thinking lot's of jumpers, which I was fine with since I grew up with boards like that. (built my first computer when I was 11-12) But I could have never fathomed the amount of BIOS settings there are. many of which, I have never heard of.

So ya, extremely experienced users ONLY.

Ok, I have the same board and the same x2 3800+, and this is what I had to do. Initially I get random crashes (BSOD) as well. I disabled the nvidia ethernet port and used the marvel ethernet port (port two) instead, and my system has been running rock solid since.

If you go over to nvidia forum, you will see lots of complain about nf4 drivers, specifically the ethernet driver (the problem is probably the firewall feature on the port) and IDE driver. For me, the only problem was the ethernet, but since you got corrupted HDD, your HDD may be having problem with the nf4 IDE driver.

People have been using Standard Windows IDE driver instead, you may want to try that.
