fly around and destroy capital ships while fending off fighters. choice of 3 units: 1 variable type and 2 fighter types. you put an end circle of death dogfights/stalemates by transforming.

some of the gameplay description gives me pause, but the concept could be interesting. hoping it shows up on steam for ~$10, otherwise i probably wont bite.

I'll wait for reviews but this does not sound promising to me:

They actively limited the amount of buttons needed to control the game, so people could use a controller in Steam Big Screen mode, and they knew this would also come in handy if the game were ever ported to consoles.

Also, why would transforming from a fighter to a mech cause me to slow down? I might lose some acceleration capability, but to actually slow down? Sounds like it will be yet another space game that is based on aerodynamics.

they idea is instead of chasing each others tail in circle of death, you transform which changes you out of fightercraft thrust/turn rate mechanics and you just point and shoot at the enemy = end of fight.

you could base the reason for slow down on any number of premises: divert energy from engines to weapon, auto braking to steady yourself for the shot, vectoring thrusters from a single axis to radial for side strafing and dodging(unfortunately none of the mech designs incorporate this).

my main issue is that you have to charge up a meter in order to be able to transform.

Game is out and released on steam for $16 until end of Jan 30th.

A lot of user feedback I've seen from various places so far enjoy the game quite a bit. A few even said that the dude who did the Eurogamer review must of been flat out lying or horrible because of some of the stuff he said in the review.

The game does look cool and fun though. It is at a price point that makes it tempting as well.

seems like if you ordered a dev kit on kickstarter you will be able to get in on the Oculus Rift support for strike suit zero. not quite an afterthought, but the fact that they dont have a 3d cockpit is a bit telling.

the kickstarter thank you video on youtube has some footage of eyefinity support. looks pretty impressive on 3 screens.

im going to wait for a steam summer/winter sale. there are no tf2 promotional bonuses for it right now and there are supposed to be more dlc campaigns to follow.

$10 is my limit for untested devs.

Friend of mine snagged it. Kind of unpolished, needs a bit of balancing, missions are seriously long and dying means starting over (so classic video game difficulty, either a pro or con depending on who you ask). The combat in Mech form looks awesome, but sadly you spend less time in Mech form than you'd think.

Someone just needs to make Zone of the Enders 3 or a more polished version of Armored Core For Answer.

Been waiting for a new space game like Project Sylpheed and now I have Strike Suit and am waiting for a sale on the just released Ace Combat PC
