Pudge, hook, rot, dismember "Fresh Meat." Most new/young teachers are laid back, and cooperative with students as feedback and input into the curriculum and atmosphere. My current English teacher is a control freak intent on setting a gap between herself and her students like a 63 year old white male fortune 500 company CEO, and a illegal immigrant. If CG was a private catholic school, I could understand, but wtf is her problem. And baking brownies and rice crispies does not make up for it, way to try and justify yourself as a good teacher while underhandidly looking for complements on your cooking. No quarrel on you qualifications as a writer, but as a teacher, don't be surprised on inspiring the first cg shooting.

He explains himself in the article linked. I think it was stupid that he would write something like this in the current state of our country, especially with what went down at VT.

I think it's ironic that this guy thinks 4 years of high school English should not be required. If he is any indication, 6 years should be required. :Q

Probably a bit overboard. It's one of those things you should've been smart enough not to do (c'mon, you're about to leave high school, just do what the teachers want and get out), but the punishment seems to be rather high for what should simply be a slap on the wrist.

I don't see how the part about the dream could be considered a threat. But the ending could be interpreted as a threat.

People are obviously going to err on the side of caution for a while. Then we'll be lulled into a false sense of security and it will happen again. It is the way of things.

Hmm. The article made it seem like he was a lot more overt in his "threat" regarding the first CG shooting. It was still stupid. But it looks like I was right: the kid is smart (4.2 gpa?), lazy, and doesn't like the class, the teacher, or the assignment. He was trying to punish the teacher for the assignment. I wonder how much of this was true concern on the teacher's part, and how much was her being pissed about the essay's content about her.

It was stupid for the kid to write this, but the school, possibly the Marines, and especially the police have really overreacted.

I think I've had one rape fantasy ever, and I woke up scared as sh!t at 3 am from it. Wasn't enjoyable in the least. I think my brain figured this out because toward the end the female started enjoying it (which never happens) and it became consentual sex but still...

Point: I've had fvcked up dreams that I would never do in real life. Ever. Still, at least I wasn't raping corpses... That's where the therapy's needed. Also, I've heard stories about a few people joining the Army/Marines because they liked killing. Still, I'd need to know more about this kid to make an accurate judgment.

After reading that, the kid should have to get some therapy for certain (and an F on that paper based on grammer alone!) but arresting him was stupid ... it made for a disturbing read but I can't say I even saw a threat.

That doesn't make it wrong either. The kid who wrote it had to know that what he was writing was provocative...especially after VT. Either way, he knows now and the media has made an example of him. Sucks to be him now doesn't it?

The kids a moron, if you want to take advantage of a poor assignment there are far better ways to do it. That said I think the school is making a mountain out of a mole hill although that essay does raise some serious questions.
