That's all we need - more studies. What's the point of this? Just more useless information. Just adding on to our information overload. 1 billion pieces of information is not enough, we need 2 billion.

As for religion, people want to be told how to live and function. This is true for most of them. They would rather sit and have someone tell them what is good or not. Unfortunately, many seem to forget everything "religious" most of the time. Only when it's convenient for them, do they remember their so-called religious teachings.

The atheists, especially many who are well educated, feel they know more than the next person. So instead of following a religion, they follow their personal ambitions, their professor, their so-called scientific curiosities, etc. Another form of religion but in a different guise. They're still following something even though many probably claim to be beyond it, to be at a higher level.

Why?

The whole point of religion is that its about faith. Its not about the citations!

And, as a corollary, Why should agnosticism demand citations? The whole point of it is to declare you "don't know" - you can't then insist on citations!

There are a vast number of Gods who offer rewards or punishments that are eternal. I find it hard to believe you have never heard of any of them. Look up "Christianity" for a start.

If you are genuinely agnostic, then you are, amongst all the others, agnostic about the Vegan God, who will send you to hell for all eternity for eating animals. Therefore there would be no way you would risk being anything but Vegan. Not to mention the AMD God, who regards the use of nvidia or Intel products as a mortal sin (he has quite a few followers around here, I think). And so on, for every other God someone could potentially dream up.

Ergo its not possible to live as a complete agnostic. You have to have some working assumptions to get through the day. Ergo agnostics are not really any different from atheists. Atheist/Agnostic is generally a trivial distinction that only comes up in arguments when someone insists they are better than both atheists and the religious because they are 'agnostic'.

There is an ATOT god and he says you should stop posting or you'll freeze for eternity and your whole family will be wiped off the face of the earth.

Now I can't prove a word I just said, but you should definitely fear him and the consequences.

Because you made a claim that does not appear to have any basis in fact.

The whole point of religion is that its about faith. Its not about the citations!
It's cute the way you purport to decide the point of everyone else's religion.

And, as a corollary, Why should agnosticism demand citations? The whole point of it is to declare you "don't know" - you can't then insist on citations!
This has nothing to do with agnosticism. Please, type less and think more.

You believe that there are a vast number of gods? You're a polytheist, then?

If you are genuinely agnostic, then you are, amongst all the others, agnostic about the Vegan God, who will send you to hell for all eternity for eating animals. Therefore there would be no way you would risk being anything but Vegan. Not to mention the AMD God, who regards the use of nvidia or Intel products as a mortal sin (he has quite a few followers around here, I think). Non-sequiturs galore. Apparently, I'm different than you, in that I don't live in fear of other people's imaginary bogey-men.

You appear to have no idea what an agnostic is.

No, I afraid they can't. Muslims aren't allowed to drink beer. You attempt to reach across the aisle has failed.

I have informed my friend Anwar that Beer is delicious. He has never had beer (it's Harem!), but, he was willing to agree with me for the sake of world peace.
