Yep, just saw that. Reinforces my belief that most people are too stupid to comprehend.

Good question. I'm assuming that they RIAA did some form of poll and most of the responders indicated that they did delete their .MP3 files from their PC. Or, they did delete the files off of their PC after they burned the music to CDR.

well it was NPD that did it... they'd have to be monitoring kazaa or something i suppose... of course, people could just wise up and not share everything...

Let's see.....this is a hard one. Someone surveys me to see if I have deleted my illegal digital music and I would say yes no matter what the truth was....wouldn't you? Boy this is some real accurate statistics gathering.

NPD is a customer opinion research firm.
This was probably a poll they did, kind of like the Harris polls.

Not that I would ever download anything that is copyrighted. That's just wrong.

And if the RIAA believe that, I have a bridge to sell them.

Edit: Actually, I don't call BS like most ppl here. I call Propaganda. No doubt this was a "study" "funded" by the music industry. And considering... "Time-Warner is the parent company of CNN.com."

Yeah right. I know a person who is on the list for downloading songs and he still downloads them. This scare tactic isn't gonna fool most people.

In other news, more than a millions households across america contain SHEEP. To no surprise, this is why music in america sucks, because these people will buy anything that is hyped

I call total BS. There is no way that this NPD firm can "track deletions." IMO, what they are calling "deletions" are just people moving their music files out of their Kazaa shared folder (or ceasing to use Kazaa at all).

Sometimes when I am reading "the news," I often wonder if I am actually reading "news" or some special interest's propaganda. In this case, there is no question. That article was pure propaganda ala Orwell.

A related NPD survey of consumer perception, however, found that consumers' overall opinion of the recording industry is suffering due to the RIAA's move to sue hundreds of people alleged to have illegally shared music online.
And in related news, scientists discover that the sun rises in the east every morning and sets in the west every evening...

I read this on Slashdot, so don't quote me for accuracy. Around 40K people "volunteered" to be monitored regarding their music download habits. These people are a cross section, and represent people from all walks of life.
