Heading to Las Vegas this weekend. Do the clubs on the strip have dress codes? How much are you expected to tip in bars? Some of the bars have $15 dollar drinks. How much do they expect to be tipped on something like that?

Generally yes. Don't ask me what it is, other than "club attire." It will also be a moving target based on how busy they are.

$1 for opening a beer, and maybe for pouring a well drink. 20% for an actual cocktail. I'm not cheap--I just don't want to pay you for doing barely anything and am pissed I just paid $18 for a shit drink. I tip my local cocktail bartenders out the ass.

drove there 2 weeks ago Its only a 11 hour drive from my house. off strip i would highly recommend this place to eat. These Arkansas boys do up Q pretty good. The Dirty Rice is outstanding.

Shooting all those exotic guns is fun if you have the $$$$ to blow.

Hover damn is cool but its just a damn with really low water. 10 bucks to park and 30 to do the full tour.

Penn and Teller is still a good show and one of the cheapest A list shows.

hang out around Nellis and see some fighters take off. best place so that you dont have Metro called out on you is the parking lot at the Race track.

swing by Pawn Shop and you might see one of the cast. Chumlee was there when we visited and yes he is a idiot in real life. Parking is free and the prices inside are insane. i have no idea how he sells anything.

The perfume that every casino pumps through the air systems gets nauseating and they still allow smoking in the casinos.

people go to vegas for the strip, off strip its just a desert town with not shit to do other than sell drugs or buy drugs.

We stayed at the Jockey Club Booked through Homeaway.com. cheap condo sandwiched between the Cosmo and Belliago. it had full access to the Cosmo's 3 pools and GOOD DAMN! eye candy galore. The Jockey club pool is open 24/7 and they have 4 propane grills for guest use. some people cooked up some tasty smelling stuff when we were lunging round the pool.

Its been a bit so I don't remember the name but there are stands where you can buy discounted tickets for shows that day and the following day. Selection and price are going to vary quite a bit but I had good luck using them to see the shows I wanted to see.

I think this was the place:

Also - and I say this as someone who never really liked his normal comedy routine - Carrot Top does a great vegas show (or at least he did about 4 years ago). I only went because a friend badgered me into going but it was well worth it

Every pawn shop I've ever been in has insane prices. It's called negotiation.

Check out the pinball museum, go downtown to people watch. Eat lots of good food.

Was hoping for the nice looking cactus not the stringy yucky ones. I'm a rock fan so hoping for cool rock formations. Haven't been to Nevada yet.

Yes we have nice cactus and bristlecone pine, Sandstone, granite and good visitors centers at the various locations with a hour of the Las Vegas proper.

I was born here some 70 years ago and other that my time in the service have lived in Clark Country my whole life. We have an excellent Library at UNLV; world class geology at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area; good snow skiing at Lee Canyon in the winter and water skiing at Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We have parks, churches and a whole society that has little to do with gamming; Last time I went to a show on the Las Vegas Strip was 1964 after my senior prom when I went and to a show with my date.

There is a over thrust belt in the Red Rocks; if you root you can find all the layers of you get if you hike down into Grand Canyon withing 20 miles of downtown Las Vegas. To me petroglyphs and Pictographs are fun things but the summer is not the best time for hiking.

Mob Museum is interesting - it is downtown in the old Las Vegas Post Office in the Summer.
Hoover Dam and taking the tour down into the bowels of the dam is well worth the drive anytime during the year as long as you have A/C in your car; stop at the Alan Bible Visitor Center on your way to or from the Dam.
Valley of Fire is best seen in Spring when wild flowers adorn the landscape.
Bagging Charleston Peak at 11, 916 feet is a good summer hike.
If you have a day then renting a car and driving to Zion is great.

There are so more non-gaming things to do but your interests can be found; The Springs Preserve can show you how the valley looked 170 years ago and why it is called Las Vegas.
