Here's a fun one: your blood type actually determines what kind of foods you should eat.

I'm type A- so apparently I should be vegetarian. Interestingly, I'm not all that much of a meat eater, I do eat meat but I could probably live without it if I really had to, provided I could find proper replacements that are still filling.

http://www.dadamo.com/txt/index.pl?1003 (lots of other info online too on this)

A lot of the info on that page seems to jive for me too, like not liking big crowds etc.

Someone pointed this out to me and I thought it was interesting so did more research.

Interesting. I have kind of forgotten what kind of blood type i have.
But i share traits will all blood types when reading that web site.
Although i favor A too.
But the list about handling stress is kind of universal for every human i guess.

They specifically call out poultry for me:
-
Another very common food that Type Bs should avoid is chicken. Chicken contains a Blood Type B agglutinating lectin in its muscle tissue. Although chicken is a lean meat, the issue is the power of an agglutinating lectin attacking your bloodstream and the potential for it to lead to strokes and immune disorders.
-

Though this is funny, I should only eat stupifyingly expensive meat, apparently:
-
Dr. D'Adamo suggests that you wean yourself away from chicken and replace them with highly beneficial foods such as goat, lamb, mutton, rabbit and venison.

Yeah for me chicken is neutral, but I should avoid pork, beef etc. Which as much as I like those I do try to avoid anyway as they are linked with being bad for the heart and there is heart disease in my family.

I didn't know until I donated blood. They were all excited because it was a rare type haha. Not surprising, I'm a ginger with blue eyes (apparently that's really rare), I may as well have a rare blood type too.

BULLSHIT. That idiocy was shot down about 10 seconds after it was published. There's not a shred of actual science to support a single word of it. Of course you see yourself in it. The predictions are varied and some of them can apply to anyone. They cover enough turf that every single person on Earth will have a little overlap and some tiny aspect will be right. It's no better than a horoscope.

Diet Coke is a health food.

In the United States, the Coca-Cola Company is launching four new flavors of Diet Coke, in snazzy new packaging, including Ginger Lime and Twisted Mango. In Japan, a new drink called Coca-Cola Plus has just been approved as a "Food of Specified Health Use" (known as FOSHU) -- essentially an endorsement of health benefits from the Japanese government. Each bottle of Coca-Cola Plus contains five grams of dextrin, a source of dietary fiber that is supposed to help inhibit fat absorption and to moderate the body’s triglyceride level after eating.

In perfect harmony:

  • Coca-Cola Japan is marketing Coca-Cola Plus to health-conscious consumers aged 40 and older as a beverage to enjoy with food. Japan is home to the world’s largest aging population.
  • Older consumers in Japan are driving the growth of the country’s FOSHU beverage market -- led by teas, followed by cola soft drinks.
  • A Wall Street Journal article published on 7 January 2018 essentially describes Coca-Cola Plus as containing a laxative. Dextrin is often sold in the United States as a health supplement that can “absorb fat.”
http://www.wisegeek.com/does-drinking-coca-cola-have-any-health-benefits.htm

I take cyclodextrin since it can leach fat from your artery walls. That's been done with an intravenous solution so I don't know if eating it will also be effective.

https://www.popsci.com/compound-in-powdered-alcohol-can-also-treat-clogged-blood-vessels

To test their hypothesis, the researchers fed mice a cholesterol-heavy diet for 12 weeks, which they knew would lead to a buildup of fatty plaques in their blood vessels. After eight weeks, they started injecting the mice with cyclodextrin twice per week. Over the remaining four weeks, the researchers found that the compound reduced the plaques by 46 percent without affecting the mice’s overall cholesterol level. The researchers suspect that the cyclodextrin boosts the activity of immune cells called macrophages, enabling them to attack excess cholesterol without causing inflammation.

The crescent moon is on female outhouses because moons were always associated with femininity. Male outhouses typically had suns or stars.

Over the years people forgot the original reason for the symbols and just started using moons all the time.

Regular Milk is 3.5% fat.

I know that cuz I finally saw a brand at Harris Teeter that actually stated the fat level of whole milk. First time in my life.

The most distant object ever seen with the naked eye was a gamma ray burst that was visible on Earth on March 19th, 2008. It came from 7.5 BILLION lightyears away and the light began traveling long before the Earth even formed. The afterglow was 2.5 million times more luminous than the most luminous supernova ever recorded, making it the most intrinsically bright object ever observed by humans in the universe. And that was just one of four gamma ray bursts detected on that day, which is a record.

Coincidentally, March 19th 2008 was also the day that Arthur C. Clarke died. Maybe the universe was lighting a few memorial candles for him.

Well...I'll just add some of these things to the LONG list of things I didn't know...and to the even longer list of things I don't care about.

That is amazing! I wish I knew about that so I could see it. But who would know when it would occur?

No way to know, you can't know they're coming until you see one.

A couple more fun facts about GRBs. In a couple of seconds they can produce more energy than our sun will in its entire 10 billion year lifespan. They're so rare that a galaxy might only produce a couple every million years and we've never seen one from the Milky Way or any neighboring galaxy. Which is a good thing because if we were hit by one from inside the Milky Way it would probably kill everything on Earth.

Wonder if we'll get an alert. Better bookmark pronhub just in case.

Domino's Pizza was founded in 1960 by Tom Monaghan and his brother James when they bought their first store with a $75 down payment and a $900 loan. After 8 months James wanted out and he traded his share in the business to Tom in exchange for the beat-up Volkswagen Beetle they were using as a delivery vehicle. Tom made more than a billion when he eventually sold a controlling share in the company. Hope James REALLY REALLY liked that car.

In the 1920's "Scotch" was a pejorative term meaning "stingy". The inventor of a new tape didn't know how much adhesive to add and gave out samples to get feedback. A painter who was testing the new tape found it was too cheaply made to stick well and said "Take this tape back to those Scotch bosses of yours and tell them to put more adhesive on it!". The "scotch" name stuck. Get it? It stuck.

I've been wondering whether "scot free" originated from Scots' love of freedom, or freebies.
