Flipping ruined me for other (non Apple) laptops.

Using my Dell vostro to update an HP Touchpad I'm giving someone as a gift, after using the MBA for the last couple of weeks...

I keep trying to use gestures on this postage stamp sized touchpad, sigh...

I still love a trackpoint over a touchpad

Maybe sometime I'll get used to touchpads, but I just can't stand em.

I never could get used to trackpoint, I guess it is sort of like comparing traditional mice to those ones with the ball on top. Where the mouse stays still and you just move the ball.

yeah every time i troubleshoot someone else's nonapple laptop, it's like a step-back to the stone ages. apple has got the user experience down. i hope that never changes.

the trackpoint on my lenovo is better than any non-mac trackpads I've used.

The thing is, from my standpoint, the current Mac touchpad is light years ahead of any other portable pointing device. Actually I like it better than an actual mouse for almost everything.

My opinion is that the current multitouch, extra large touchpad on Macs are the best, but only under Mac OS X. They pretty much suck under Windows and Linux.

"Normal" touchpads are mediocre, to the point where I'd almost rather carry an external mouse.

IBM/Lenovo trackpoints are great. The only thing better is Apple's current touchpad, but only in OS X.

Mac trackpads are junk for me because they do not allow adjusting the touch sensitivity. I guess apple assumes that everyone using a mac trackpad has sweaty, fat fingers. Also, using tap to drag incurs a delay on normal tapping. Both problems not present on synaptics trackpads in windows. I do however like the smooth scrolling and the hardware of the trackpad, its just the software that's unbearable.

I realize that it says speed and not sensitivity, but it pretty much accomplishes the same thing. With more speed comes more sensitivity.

IBM trackpoint rules! Having said that I reluctantly picked up an MBA and if there is anything that I could get used to it is this MBA touchpad. It's pretty big given the size of this 11.6" machine and it works just fine. I prefer the trackpoint any day but as far as touchpads go Apple has the best.

I should have clarified by saying its the touch sensitivity(tapping sensitivity), not the tracking sensitivity that I care about. My MBA does not properly register all my tap to clicks because there is some artificial threshold set requiring quite a bit of surface area to be considered a click.

In windows, the option looked like this (I had this set all the way to light touch):

Its frustrating that apple does not have this option, and it seems that they have no plan to ever implement it because they have this notion they know whats best for every user.

Interesting. I must be more heavy-handed than you. I just tried to tap lightly enough on my trackpad, so that it wouldn't register and I was unable to do so.
