Gotta rant...
Made a dumb ordering mistake. I put a T420 and T420s into my lenovo shopping cart, and was trying to decide between the two, when my old laptop decided to play "not gonna boot up" for 3 hours. Enough is enough, time to order. It was early and before breakfast, so I apparently wasn't thinking straight because I thought that the only thing I'd give up going with the T420 was overall size/thickness and about a pound of weight. Well, I remembered right after completing the order that the T420 doesn't have usb 3 and the T420s does, and that was important to me. Oops.
Worse, even though I discovered this less than an hour after making the order, it is Sunday and lenovo sales hours are monday-friday. So even though I want to cancel/change the order immediately, I can't even talk to them for another full day. I am just hoping that when they open, they haven't progressed the order beyond when it can be cancelled. I already emailed the sales dept requesting the cancel, but of course haven't gotten a response.
I sure hope they let me change the order because I really like the t series computers but really do not want the t420 at this point. It's the t420s or nothing, for the size/weight and usb 3, for what should be almost exactly the same performance and less than $200 price difference. I can live with the dramatically shorter battery life, but I don't think I want to give up usb 3.
Argh. Dumb mistake. I really need to replace my failing t41p immediately, but this just delays it another few days because I'm not going to order the t420s until I can confirm that the t420 order is cancelled. If they won't cancel the t420 I'm considering calling my credit card company and disputing the charge, that's how much I do not want the t420. They can't even ship the thing for another 3 weeks so I really hope they'll be reasonable and let me cancel the order so I can order the t420s instead.
rant complete... unless they won't cancel the order
