so you tried to get him out of the hospital by putting him in the hospital.

BTW, we need more of these stories... along with paramedic911's ambulance stories, they're very entertaining.

PS. I wish I didn't have a desk job.

Anyways, moral of the story, assaulting someone that has 8inches of height and 100lbs of weight that has a pistol, club, and pepper-spray and being outnumbered 3-1...usually doesn't work in your favor...

And in this case he gets to spend some quality time in an 8x8 cell.

moral of this story is our health care workers don't understand WTF they are doing.

Glad you stuck around to watch the show too.

make sure "altered mental status" is not anywhere in his chart.

Ya, don't let this guy be let off on plea of insanity. That is bullshit.

There is no such thing as being "let off" on insanity. When a person is determined to be mentally unfit to stand trial they basically lose their right to due process. Their fate is decided by a doctor not by a jury, and they can be imprisoned with no limit and no appeal. Most people would be better off pleading guilty. Everyone who believes being "let off" on insanity needs to take a class on the history of the care and treatment of the mentally ill.

OP, have you ever seen paramedics use Narcan punitively?

Narcan is benign, but you can give it quickly and get projectile vomiting from rapid withdrawal symptoms. Punitive is a nasal intubation, NG tube, or multiple large (very) bore IV's. However, none of those (besides an NG tube, would be done for an OD before Narcan was given.) they tend to rip them out...

A couple 14 gauge IVs is a quick way to make even the toughest gang-banger(or anyone who is remotely alert and with it) cry.

Thats usually the extent of my punitive behavior.

Isn't there a problem with cross-contamination when using OC indoors?

People still wonder why some police have tazers.

A: get the shit beat out of you with wooden stick and sprayed with pepper spray
B: get tazed and lay on the ground

Seconded. Police related Suicides are becoming pretty common. We had to get himself gunned down by telling 911 he had a gun, and was going to open fire then immediately charging police when they arrived. Luckily an unmarked snuck up behind him, saw he didn't have anything, and tackled his ass.
