You can use em. If you plan to put shades or globes over them, be sure to size accordingly.

Doesn't say what kind of bulb it takes. It may just be there is no CFL in that socket size.

In this case I would expect them to be differentiating between a tube flourescent and an incandescent bulb type fixture. Why not find an obvious flourescent, incandescent, and CFL-compatible incandescent lamps on the website for comparison?

I was about to post about people too stupid to read product descriptions...then I saw it was Aphex...a moderator, so instead, I'll merely explain.

That product description merely states that it is not a fluorescent fixture. (no ballast, not built for standard fluorescent bulbs) You CAN use CFL's in the sockets.

From looking at the picture:

You should be able to use "standard socket-medium base" CFL's in that.
(which is a benefit...it's nearly impossible to find candelabra base bulbs in anything but "warm white."

Yeah, CFLs will work fine in that. The only time you need to worry about a CFL is with dimmer switches or 3-way lights. And they make special CFLs to work in either of those scenarios as well.

You need to worry about CFLs almost any time you have an electronic operation. Another issue can be with illuminated light switches.

Basically, if you have a timer, photocell, motion sensor, dimmer, or an enclosed fixture, you need to be careful about putting a CFL in there. Most CFLs these days can be used in an enclosed fixture. Most sensors or timers will need you to use a "dimmable" CFL unless they are mechanical in nature. A lot of companies these days are marketing their products as being CFL compatible. Dimmers need "dimmable" CFLs.

3-Way fixtures do not impact CFLs any more than they would a normal light bulb in a 3-way fixture. Using it on the middle setting will result in functional operation with no diminished life.
