It claims that hibernate support is disabled in my power control panel. Also, where it says "When I press the sleep button:", you can only choose from 'standby' or 'shutdown'. obviously, shutdown would be even worse!!! there is nothing else indicating i can disable this.

More suggestions pleease!?!?!??!

Wow sounds desperate!

I'm not too much of a software guy so...

Buy a new keyboard. Or, pull out the sleep button and put some kind of insulation in to block it from completing the circuit (then but the button back in).

ooooh, i think frizzle might have it. I reset my bios when installing win2k, and havent re-tweaked it yet. I'll just go and turn off power management. DUH!!! Thanks, hopefully it works. I'll report back shortly.

One of the problems with win2K is not all hardware is compatible. If your's is, why not install the software. It would seem that would be better than what you have now.
Good Luck

well, its an M$ keyboard!! You would at least assume it'd be compatible... I installed that crap intellitype software, and there once again is absolutely no option to disable power management/sleep/standby/etc.

The included IntelliType Pro software lets you change the behaviour of the Search, Mail, My Computer, Calculator and Sleep buttons, but you can't remap any of the others. Mind you, there is a built-in feature that lets you disable any or all of the special Windows keys clustered around the space bar, which is a nice touch.

This is what I got from here:

So try to look for anything that will let you disable that key.

This may sound silly, but what exactly do you mean "there's nothing there" in your keyboard control panel? I'm looking at my setup and under control panel --> keyboard --> hardware --> properties, there were two check boxes for power management.

Lol, i think i just might have to put a piece of paper under the button or something (like was discussed above in this thread). That sure is a half-ass way to do it, though. And all of the other buttons work too, but i DO want to keep the volume buttons working, just not all the other ones.

Best solution is to get rid of the button on the keyboard, unless you're willing to buy a new keyboard without those keys
