we had this safety meeting last year and they had this external company in to present it. they showed some pretty graphic images of stuff that happened to people who didn't follow safety procedures. definitely gets the point across when all thats left of a guy is a few blood smears on the equipment.

Staple Haufer Klaus?

no, it wasn't a video like that. just photos if i remember correctly

Seen on an industrial size washer in our local laundry establishment was the (large lettered) sign: "Warning: Do not put any person in this washer."
My Dad worked at a laundromat when he was in highschool. There was one washer that was walk-in. My Dad's good friend who also worked there, accidently turned it on while inside (he forgot to turn off the safety switch). When Dad discovered him, there were no chunks left large enough to identify.

Sorry to gross people out, but that is an important warning.

Gruesome stuff

They dropped the charge against the brother, but I haven't been able to find out what happened with the lawsuit.

Edit: Lawsuit still active.

We have warning labels on ALOT of things in the hospital that say

WARNING: Restricted to order and sale by licensed physicians only.

Which when its on a bottle of sterile water I'm like OK how is that dangerous or in anyway needed?!

Some glass bottles are made to be refilled, and that used to be the common method of bottling was to use refillable

Are you saying that if there was a warning, your father's good friend wouldn't have done what he did? I think it is commons sense to not turn a washer/dryer on with someone inside.

This product contains chemicals known to the state of California to make your children grow 14 legs.

WTF do I care? I live in TN not CA, it's not like these things are going to hurt me right?

what the heck would that do to clothes if it tore a person to little bits?

Uhh.. I would think a cotton shirt is a tad more flexible than a human spine.

It is possible that with a warning just over the door that he may have thought twice about entering without first turning off the safety switch. But of course, he could have just been young and stupid and ignored it.

I'm just saying that people get in washers all the time and they get injured/die. Dogooder gave a link with several other examples. This is one warning that is actually needed because people are stupid. And maybe it has helped someone.

Most of the other warnings here are so blatently obvious that I can't imagine that many people have done them. That is unlike the washer problem where many people actually do enter them.

But if you were to open that package on a kitchen table and leave that packet sitting there, it could look an awful lot like a pack of salt or sugar. I'll stand behind that one as the purpose of the package is not inherintly obvious.
