I know I'm just fanning the flames, but.....the WRX is an amazing car for the money, plain and simple! 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, amazing handling, and IMHO the exterior design is the sh!t. It is not the greatest car in the world, thats not the point. Its a rally car, compare it to other rally cars.

Very interesting points of view! I am not really a wrx or f-body fan but just have to join in on this fun...he he

I don't have a comment regarding the WRX, but an f-body car with 350ci engine is a demon. I've had several cars in my life(honda prelude si, bonneville ssei, ford f250, beretta gt, geo storm, current car saturn sc2) anywayz... Out of all my cars, the honda handled best and bonneville was fastest. Last year a friend let me take his 2000 firebird forumul(v8) to the store by myself. Amazing power, i'm talking AMAZING...power at every rpm. Honestly, like no car i've driven.

Uhhh....thank you for reading

Why are you comparing a import 4 to a local american 8? Does apples and oranges mean anything to you?
Take a camaro and drive here in Buffalo. You won't leave your driveway.
>>

I lived in Buffalo for 6 years. Some of the road conditions are too bad even for a AWD vehicle. I would drive a beater in that kind of winter situation, no sense in cracking up a nice car during a snow storm.
>>

Good for you!

I happen to commute, and don't want to drive a beater in the winter. Thats why I got a new car! TO DRIVE IT, not have it sit in the garage 4-6 months out of the year. An LS1 Camaro would be simply undriveable for me in the winter.

That's why I chose the WRX. They drive very nicely, have some of the most comfortable seats in the business, and it fits nicely in my price range. Everyone has their OWN opinion, but you can stop spewing garbage from your mouth any time now.

Low post count + no profile enabled + no PM enabled + patently stupid statements = Troll

Methinks someone is just grumpy they're old enough to be able to read car magazines and not old enough to drive yet.

<< MOMO steering wheel standard... I can't think of any other cars in that price range that have that. >>

The Mazda MP3/Protege 5 comes with a Nardi wheel, and so doest the sport package Miata IIRC.

Personally, I'd rather have the 330xi than the Audi or WRX. It's one of the cars I'm considering along with a Saleen to replace my SVT Contour.

WRX needs better cupholders... yes, im a loser, I brought a super slurpee to a test drive.

Back seat, as long as you are short, its fine, otherwise, its just an extension of a small trunk.

I've yet to test drive the WRX but it sounds pretty good considering the price range it lies in. Personally I just want a fairly quick car that won't cost me an arm and a leg for both purchasing and maintainence. WRX seems to fit those needs better than anything else out there right now.

Compare the car to it's competition if you're gonna bash it

Look at the RSX Type S, look at the Celica GT-S, now compare it to the WRX... doesn't seem like so bad of a deal considering it's performance now does it?

<< You see, it is true. If you don't like a certain car, people get all uptight in this forum. Like it's some kind of Honda, Toyota, Subaru only forum. >>

You forgot Nissan.

You paid 22k for a car with decades-old technology in it. Thats real smart. The only thing worthy of mention in the camaro is the engine. WRX was never meant to be the "new" cool car to have.....its been out for almost a decade in other countries. If Subaru wanted the WRX to be really mainstream then they'd have put more emphasis on the interior. The fact is ....its meant for enthusiasts....not for the average person......so obviously its not a good value to a normal person because people just don't look at the performance side when choosing a car.

I just want a hatch with balls and the WRX has the best balance of utility, performance, and price that I can think of.

Well, I gotta say, it was real fun reading this post....but some people are too anal here

personally, I wouldn't buy any american car...turns into a POS after 4 yrs (or less)...a japanese or european car
..well now...that's another story.

anyway, for the price of the WRX, you can't beat it in that price range.

btw my '02 m3 cab is fabulous drive (so who has a bigger wang??? )

<< Are rally courses measured in quarter miles? 14 seconds is pretty slow and the WRX just does not have any balls over 80 mph. I guess most would consider it fast since most people here love Hondas and Toyota Corrolas and think those are the best cars in the world. >>

Yeah but in all reality going over 80mph all the time is not practical.

Definately not a good argument. The LS1 is a very high tech engine based on proven technology. How many engines are designed with composite intake manifolds? I always wanted a SS camaro, it's more about the pride of owning a limited production american sports car. I'm sorry that i don't appreciate small engines with small displacement. I guess your argument for enthusiasts could also work for the LS1 camaros. They handle very well, have over 300 hp at the wheels and lots of torque. It only gets better with simple mods and the aftermarket is very active. I dont' care about all wheel drive or little engines with turbos or vtec this or that. Either you make the power and have a chassis that can handle it or you make excuses.

Why haven't the mods locked this thread? It's obvious that WickedMotorcar is just posting flamebait to irritate everyone.

On the other hand, maybe we should just feel sorry for this guy, becuase it's obvious that he has a big case of "import envy"!

God, I hate to feed the flames in a troll thread... but here goes.

First, I agree with all who said that WickedMotorcar is a troll. It's simply, blatantly obvious.
Second, I have driven the WRX. I took one for a test drive last fall at Carr Subaru, and the salesman let me take it through the paces on SW Humphrey Drive here in Portland, a switchback heaven. My opinion? If you are interested in a ultra-high-speed straight-line runner down the quarter, the WRX is not be the car for you. If you are looking for wood trim and computerized climate controls, go buy a Mercedes. If you are looking for a real sports car/coupe... bad news, the WRX is a sedan. If you are looking for a stoplight-to-stoplight sedan racer with excellent acceleration that can also haul the family and happens to have extremely excellent handling and cornering abilities (plus great all-weather traction), then the WRX is your car. Personally, I really liked how you can throw the WRX sideways at high-speed into a tight corner and still maintain perfect control, just like a rally driver. Very fun.

The original troll-baiting statement that began this thread was that the WRX was only a $15,000 car. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is an extremely well-priced car that competes very well in its target market. Yes, the fit-and-finish is a little rough... it's a damn Subaru for God's sake, not a Cadillac. But the WRX is still a very comfortable car and extremely well-appointed for it price range.

Personally, though, I chose not to buy the WRX, although I considered it. I simply don't like sedans.

One of the easy ways to tell a troll is that they consistently change their argument and/or obscure/cover-up fallacies in their own arguments in order to keep their troll-baiting thread alive. Notice how WickedMotorcar originally begins by stating that the WRX is overpriced crap. Obviously this is not true, and he couldn't defend this argument, so he switched tactics by comparing it directly against the Camaro LS1, a car that is more expensive than the WRX. Oops! Then he goes from saying how to AWD sucks in one post to how it doesn't suck and he used to own an AWD car in the next, to then saying that AWD is unnecessary in the one after that. :disgust:
Troll verdict against WickedMotorcar is guilty. Court's adjourned.

PSYWVic Well said, and dead on. Like other trolls (Not to name name, but his name starts with R, ends in N, is 5 letters long and has the middle letters iso) he also ignores any contradictory argument that is valid against him and just says something else, or chooses what contradictory statements to address.

lmao...I love the bait and switch and apples to oranges comparisons with the RWD camaro vs an AWD WRX...but wait, lets switch that with another straightline car, a Corvette! But no, let's jump to a used audi! Great friggin comparisons!
