yeah tempted to do this, apparently you can cancel right away or for whatever is left of the issues and they only take out 26$ for shipping and your "gift" aka madden. so this is like getting the game for 30 bucks! 50% off lol, otherwise you get to save 10$ and get a free mag

"Please note our cancellation policy. If you choose to cancel your subscription to Sports Illustrated, you will receive a refund on all unmailed issues provided you return the video game and DVD in working condition, in its original packaging. If you choose to keep the game and DVD, you will receive a refund on all unmailed issues minus the cost of the gifts and shipping and handling which is $26."

hmmm, tempting. How hard is it to cancel?

Only thing is Madden doesn't take long to drop to around $30 for the pc version anyway.

There hasn't been a PC version of Madden for at least a few years, won't be one this year AFAIK.

is that website legit??? If so, I am definitely in. You save $10 off the price of Madden, get about 6 months worth of SI for free basically and get some other DVD thrown in as well. That's hard to pass up if your a Madden fan. I just have to remember 6 months or so down the road to cancel the renewal.

Which is interesting and should clue folks in to the markup on these games. If the cost of the game, DVD and shipping is just $26, assume that shipping is about $6, the DVD $4, the cost of the game is $16. this puts the markup of a 360 game at about 250%.

im going to do it and then attempt to cancel when I get the game. If it doesn't work I will just cancel the renewal after the 6 months. Either way it's a good deal.

Looks legit. There's a link at the top of the SI.com website. I'll be jumping on this as I enjoy Sports Illustrated anyway. Doesn't hurt to get Madden 10 for free, since I wasn't planning on buying it.

Assuming they're getting it at that cost and it doesn't really mean the cost + $26 for shipping, who knows.

Retailers don't mark up the games much if at all, they pay what we pay but bank on accessories and other useless shit to sell with it.

that's what i was thinking...cost of game PLUS $26 shipping for canceling....not sure though, I'll probably just keep the issues instead of trying to cancel, it's a good deal even without canceling.

... and if you're gamestop, you bank on buying the game back for a small fraction of what someone paid and selling it close to the new price. Ughh.

Supposedly retailers make about $7.50 on each game they sell (and $12.50 on each console when it was first released, the margins on all the consoles are way higher now). Those numbers probably take into account for the cost of shelf space, shipping, credit card processing, theft, etc..

That was why I didn't bite. I know with magazine subscriptions, it always seems to take forever to get that first issue. I didn't figure they'd be too apt to send it out right away, but I am curious to hear when someone does get their copy.

Got this email after signing up last night.

The national release date of the video game is August 14th. No games will ship before then. After the national release date, your gifts will ship as soon as your credit card order is approved and processed

So might be showing up faily soon.

Called the customer support number listed in the ad and they said I should have the game by this Friday or at the very latest it will ship out this Friday (8/21). We will see what happens.

*CANCELLATION POLICY

If you choose to cancel your subscription to Sports Illustrated, due to the value of the game and DVD ($49), you will not receive a refund unless the game and DVD are returned in their original packaging

Same here, except I would want the PS3 version. $19 for 6 months of sports illustrated is a hot deal indeed.
