Subwoofer and a CRT Monitor?

Is it back to have a subwoofer under a CRT Monitor. Could it do any harm. By the way it a 21 inch sony Multiscan E500.

if the sub's not shielded or if you see any distortion of your monitor you should move them apart.

A subwoofer is most likely not shielded, they are meant to be placed on the floor under or behind your desk.

You don't want it to close to your monitor.

quantex shipped my bros monitor and speakers in the same box. sub was right next to the monitor when i opened it up and thought it would be bad news. fired and up and sure nough, monitor had a purple tint on the side where it was next to the sub. dumbsh!ts.

Keep it a good two to three feet from the monitor and you should have no problems. Most subwoofers are generally unshielded but I have seen some cheapo plastic ones shielded. Check your manual.

Unshielded speakers and subs are bad for monitors and TV's as well... my sub is about a foot and a half from my monitor and I still have a little color distortion... It would be nice if all them speakers were shielded like they should...

No No thats not what I ment I dan't have color disortion. When the base makes a big thump the moniter makes wavy lines across the srceen. I'm saying is that bad.
