Suck or Blow?

How do I know what direction the fan will blow (or suck)... Cant plug it in before the fact... These are Sunon fans... Only one side has the product sticker...

Most, if not all fans, have an arrow that indicate what direction they blow. It is on the same side of the fan that the cable go in, most times. Also, IIRC, most airflow goes from the hub, to the casing of the fan.......

If you look carefully on the side of the fan you will find (with most fan brands) two arrows, one pointing in the direction that the blades move and the direction of the airflow.

Otherwise, you'll just have to test the airflow direction using a piece of tissue paper...

unfortunately i have quite a few fans that don't have arrows, and found that most of the time the side the decal is on is the side the air will be coming towards, so decal out = air out

Depending on how your brain works you can just look at the blades and instantly tell which way it will turn and the direction of the airflow.

Based on the fact that he asked this question, I'm guessing his brain doesn't work like that...

Every PC fan I've encountered blows air towards the bits of the casing that support the centre. That was poorly described. D'ah well.

Not a poor description, just another way of saying what was posted above about the decals. This has always been my experience in the hundreds of fans I have encountered too. (as far as case fans go anyways. GPU/north bridge fans don't always follow this)

Fans generally blow out the same side that the motor is mounted.
Some Arctic Cooling fans are an exception to that rule.

Some fans have decals on both the motor side and blade hub.

Nope. In fact, I have this Chieftec case here that came populated with "U-Lucky" fans (meh.. at least they're ball bearing) and none of them have the arrows on them.

But, as it's been stated, as long as you remember that the arms that support the hub of the fan are on the exhaust side of the fan, you'll know what direction the air is blowing.

Speaking of which, (hi-jack!) this case has three 80MM fans set up to exhaust off of the hard drives. The 120MM exhausts out the back and, of course, the power supply exhausts as well. The only induction is an 80MM in the door and it's loud as hell. Is that normal?!?
