It's also REALY fun to empty, which is required after each use.

my dyson ends up with TONS of carpet fiber in the canister. Since I live in a townhouse that I rent, it's not my problem

If I had a house I wouldn't buy one

my mom has a dyson. After having the same problem of going through about 1-2 vacuums per year she finally ponied up the money. So far so good. She loves it like a 3rd child. No problems what so ever. She feels it was best money she ever spent on a vacuum.

Not under warranty. :|

I asked if the electric motor was under an extended warranty becasue of the impeller breaking.
MMM nope,
3 months later the electric motor smoked. :|

I bought a bagless Dirt Devil at Kmartor Walmarts,it works good, just have to take the filter and shake/bang the dust out, outside,LOL.

We've had our Dyson for 2 years now. No problems at all. It works great. I've never had one that picks up the nasty stuff as well as it does. It's well worth the money. I let 2 friends us it and they both are now owners also.

Highly recommended.

I agree. My parents had a Kirby that lasted a very long time.

last and actually clean are two different things.

You can pry my dyson from my cold dead hands for its ability to really clean.

Get an Electrolux. We're still using an old one from 15 years ago. It's loud as a mother though.

If you see by this consumer report listing, the Dyson isn't that great. In fact I don't see how it's worth $400 at all. I just purchased a new vaccuum in the last 2 weeks. I read an article in good housekeeping that rated the newer vaccuums. It didn't like the Dyson either. They rated the Hoover Savvy bagless top notch, so I bought that. (#8 in consumer reports list) I thought about returning it for the #1 rated Hoover but decided I liked the Savvy better. Plus, I don't like the self propelled ones. I think the dual brush agitators are a plus for our major dog hair issues. I can't see using a bagged vaccuum when you have dogs that shed a lot. You would need to replace the bag every 2 weeks in our household.

My friends have the #2 rated vaccuum (Eureka Smart Vac) and they really like it too. I thought it was a little too "cheap looking" and wasn't as automated as I would have liked. But if simple and effective is your choice than I would say get this one.

If you want a good vacuum I suggest you look there.

Yeah.. we've had a Miele for a few years now and the only problem with it was that it stopped turning on. My little brother was too rough with it and messed up the power cable. We got it fixed (happened about a year and a half ago) and it's been running like a champ ever since.

My parents (read: mom) also bought a Miele washer/dryer combo though, because our old ones were 10 years old and constantly malfunctioning.

your vacuum went from suck to blow huh ? That sucks.

Ours is still going after 2 years so far... I don't think I want to spend $500+ for a vacuum...

Our Hoover doesn't seem to work so I let my wife use my Sears dry/wet vac and now she won't give it back. It was less than $100.

You can buy a dyson at costco, and if it doesn't work out give it back. They're good like that- just don't abuse 'em.

I bought a $75 Hoover and it still works like a charm. I use it weekly. What are you doing to your vacuums that causes them to break?

Well this is weird. My Hoover blew it's second transmission, and I will be picking up a vac. The yellow Dyson looks like the winner.
