My computer CPU usually idles around 30degrees celsius and loads at around 38-40. I just recently checked and now my computer is idling at around 40 degree celsius (and my powersupply randomly restarted today). Should I be worried? What could be the issue [i have not changed any cooling options or anything and the ambient temperature isn't that much warmer].

When was the last time you checked the temps??? I mean you say it was 30c before but was that when you orignally oc'd and set it up???

Clean all the fans and remove HSF and reapply paste...Sometimes the stuff can dry out....

The dustier fans get the less cfm they move...It affects ambient case temp...It moves less cold air in and removes less warmer air...That means every thermal solution is less effective...

The restart could be many things...did you witness it??? Go into event viewer and see if there is a log of anything error or program running when it restarted...

Also do you have "automatic restarts" uncheched in windows hardware startup and recovery...Sometimes restarts are masking an error that may be a result of the ram etc...

Yeah clean out the CPU fan!

This may not be your issue, but it was mine. My Temps were off the wall for a Presscott and rebooting all the time.
I took the fan off my heatpipe cooler and between the fan and the cooling fins was a layer of dust and lint, it formed into something you'd see when you clean the lint trap on your dryer. It actually had form and as I peeled it off the fins it held together!

Screw the fan back on, start the system and my temps dropped by 10 to 15 C

I think it might be a power supply issue. My old AXP was always 60C before the power supply fried (normally 50C). Could be the PSU overvolting to the CPU.

How long has it been? Dust can built up (a lot in some cases).

I remeber that dust built up in my ATI Silencer on my 9800XT and temps got 65+, cleaned it out and it never broke 60, and probably 58 too.
