So I got Arkham Knight bundled with my GTX 970 but haven't bothered installing it due to the poor reviews and many problems with it. I did however add it to my Steam library.

Today I noticed I've got a ton of Batman games in my library. I have never purchased a Batman game.

I guess this was some kind of damage control gesture from the publisher to make up for the Arkham Knight fiasco? Kind of like EA giving SimCity 2013 buyers SimCity 4 for free...

I guess they might be worth playing after I've finished the other ~85934 games I've bought on Steam sales etc but never got around to actually playing.

This was announced a while back. It's a pretty mediocre apology, considering most people who bought the game probably owned multiple if not all of the previous games.

Definitely play Arkham Asylum and City...those were the best Batman games IMHO.

I never got around to playing Origins, though. Is it as good as the first 2 games?

Agreed, the ending to Arkham Asylum was kindof "meh" although the story leading up to it was great. The ending to Arkham City was just awesome and by far is my favorite ending of the group. I have played a bit of Origins (really should play more) and I would say it's a good story slightly less, for me, than Arkham City & Asylum but still enjoyable.

Agreed. I already owned them all. All this did for me was move B:AA onto Steam since I already owned a physical copy and get me Origins DLCs.

Pretty lame for a game that came with my 980 Ti in June and I still haven't played hardly any of due to being a buggy mess. I really like the first two, but Origins is where it starts to feel like the trick is getting old. That, and younger batman is too moody and hot-headed.

With the right config file settings(and with SSD, no need to mention that it's impossible to get rid of stuttering on HDD) Arkham Knight becomes playable(or bearable at least) game. But tweaking config file is a hard and annoying work if you are not an experienced user. Unreal Engine 3's dumb texture streaming method is the root of most problems. (I saw stuttering that originated by texture streaming on some UE3 for years.)

Kaldainen's tool(a steam user who created an awesome-but not perfect- tweak tool solves many things) but the game needs additional tweaking on .ini files(because every system has different behaviors on the same settings) If you don't wanna waste your time you can simply install that tool.

And Arkham City is best i think. It has the most complicated story of all series. Arkham Asylum is my second favourite game.

I definitely highly recommend Arkham City as well, very good game (Asylum as well, but I preferred City).

I loved Asylum and City, playing through them multiple times which is rare for modern games.

Bought Origins, played for 16 hours, then uninstalled... wasn't even remotely interested in Knight. Good thing apparently from the backlash.

The best part of all these games, imo, isn't Batman nor puzzles, but the fighting. These were the first games to take skilled fighting from something like Mortal Kombat, and put it into a world instead of an arena. Even games that came after, and tried to recreate the Batman fighting failed miserably (like Sleeping Dogs).

Problem is, you can't just rehash the same old over and over and expect gamers to love it. Adding new enemies is a start for a sequel, but they should have focused more on things not fully fleshed out in previous games, like the detective work, instead of further muddling the combat.

Asylum = Best story by far. Origins has the second best story
City = the best combat, then Knight

All 4 are worth playing IMO, Knight played fine for me after the second driver set nVidia released after the game came out. Most people just shouldn't have PC's

Not to me. I would have went out and bought AK if this is still possible. Is it?

I started with City, so I guess I'll be disappointed by the other combat systems. That sucks, I was really happy with the combat, it's what I loved.

This game came with my cards, but I never redeemed it yet. I assume I now can have all of these Batman games as well. I'm not sure I would enjoy a game if I can't shoot people with something. I have to punch the crap out of everyone?

You can use gadgets during fighting but it's not like a point and shoot, it's handled automatically with the right button presses.

I played these on XB360 (AA, AC & AO) and would like to check out the PC versions if you throw your code away

I'll give you that the batman games have a deliciously simple yet fun fighting system. But they are definitely not the first games to include a skilled fighting element into a world. Severance Blade of Darkness had an awesome skill based fighting system and it came out in 2001!

Granted in Severance the fighting is less acrobatic than in the batman games, but it was nonetheless skill based. In fact looking back at it, the combat in severance is really quite similar to the Demons Souls and Dark Souls games.

Man - I wish someone would remake severance - or do a true sequel.

You had to own Arkham Knight on your Steam account by November 16.
