Suffering from serious Walking Dead Addiction

When the walking dead came out around 3/4 years ago, i dismissed it as just a silly zombie show not worth my time.2 weeks ago i was seriously bored and decided to watch the first episode of season one.I ended up not sleeping at all that night.Finished season 1 and in 2 weeks i was in season 4 episode 9.

Why is this show soo addictive?i know the plot is not the best and some episodes have very thin plots.But for some reason when that episode ends with a cliffhanger and that haunting Walking Dead theme song, it leaves you wanting more and hooked.I have googled Walking Dead addiction and it seems there are many people who are addicted to this show.I suspect the reason is the awesome character development.Or maybe its the feeling of wanting to follow this group of survivors in their journey to stay alive in a post apocalyptic world?

I've stopped watching zombie films (and Idiocracy) because they're too close to reality, even if metaphorical. People wandering around in a daze, consuming each other... yup every corporate job I've ever had.

I watched the very first episode and simply said 'I have no interest in this whatsoever.'

I saw an episode from the last season and said 'this is fucking terrible wrapped in awful and then crapped from the asshole of pure shittiness.'

But the truly terrifying thing is the people who watch this show and think that they have such better taste than those watching episodes of America's Got Top Midget Idol Island Cooking Alien Amish Hillbilly Logging.

Oh..now Chuck was awesome until around season 3 (or whenever it was he got the girl and they had the whole love arc thing..just ruined it). Actually on further thought, it started sucking when they got away from the Buy More more often. Those characters were what made the show and broke the "oh i'm a nerd and she's hot" story.

Walking Dead suffers that if it wasn't for the zombies, it would be a pretty boring human drama. It does have it's moments though.

Happened to me too. I was pretty sick of all things zombies so never bothered watching up, but since it's on Netflix I decided to give it a shot. I caught up with all 3 seasons at the time in a weekend and really like it.

I'll agree though that watching single episodes now doesn't hold up as well. I'll probably stop watching and catch up later.

Haha, this. The first season blew me away but the I stopped watching after that. Got real boring real quick.

The wife and I have missed minor nuances in "True Detectives" so after E08 comes out we are going to watch them all in one, rainy day.

I was on 6 night shifts in a row a week ago and started watching the Walking Dead. I'm done all the way to season 3. Did not start on 4 yet though.

Though I do find some of the stuff can be slow. I would probably not get into it if I was watching one episode at a time. Really I don't know how people do that with these shows. It's best to watch a season at a time, at least. I did the same with Breaking Bad. a couple weeks before the finale I started at season 1.

Thats very true.I started on Netflix with the first episode and couldn't stop after that.It was a serious binge watch.Dreaming and eating Walking dead.But now that i've caught up, it doesn't give me the same "rush".

I saw the trailer for The Resurrection.Looks like it might be good.

That is so true! I remember finding the show on the internet last year. I don't watch tv because I absolutely hate it. I do like zombie movies though. I remember watching 7 episodes straight on a Saturday night. I was up until 7am.

Awesome time. Now I don't follow it that much. I will watch the show on Monday and I just fast forward all the boring stuff.

I saw so many questionable decisions in seasons 1 and 2, I couldn't keep watching. I guess I'll resume watching sometime -- only because everyone I'm my town is nuts about it. A lot of episodes are filmed in-and-around my town and one of the main cast members lives in my apartment building.
