curious, but what kind of books are you looking to write?
You stated yourself that a Masters in Stats would benefit you most. The question is, do you really want to achieve your goals, or are you gonna sit around and hope someone tells you the easier way is just as conducive. Right now it's the later.
You don't need an advanced degree to be a writer. You're not really defining any career goals here. Other than writing a book, what types of internships, and what types of research?
For something scholarly, you pretty much need some clout and peer recognition to be taken seriously and get a decent publisher.
True, but you don't do a PhD to become a writer. You do a PhD to become a researcher, and after a long career you might venture into writing.
OP: Writing (unfortunately) is not a very easy career to make out. While we sitting in our armchairs, typing away, can't help much, I suggest you talk to your career adviser if your college/university has one. Also, consider talking to professors in your area of interest to see if they can provide advice on the best way to reach your goals.
fuck your metric system. fuck it right in its stupid decimal base.you need 100 degrees to boil water
earnings now: 0.
state schools. ~2000 per semester at SDSU, then ~6-8000 per at UCSD.
UCSD is a research institution. Hoping to alleviate some of my tuition/fees through stipend by doing research for professors... at least at UCSD. as far as at SDSU, dunno.
i'm living at my parents house atm, and can commute to both schools from here no problem. i'd *like* to move out, but i have a grand total of $6000 to my name, no car of my own, and unable to find any fucking job.
earnings with MS in statistics... i'm guessing would hit around 60,000/yr to start. (i'm guessing. whatever if i'm wrong.) earnings with an MA in economics... uh.... i think i'm the same boat there that i am in now.
