This was a good one too, even if there were a couple parts where you had to readily suspend disbelief.

I should have mentioned this one. One of the best mindfucks ever presented on film. A buddy actually got pissed that I recommended it based on the ending. I laughed.

I watched The Savages last night and I liked it quite a bit. Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman are amazing. Also, Linney is gorgeous IMHO.

There Will Be Blood was good as well - caught it on the dish - excellent movie if you can stomach the absolute evil and selfishness of the main character. Well-played by Daniel Day Lewis - what a phenomenal actor.

 to both of these

Saw both. Amazing acting in both although for THe Savages i dont think the story went too far beyond that. the overall message is pretty heavyhanded i felt

Hmmm haven't heard of Miller's Crossing, I'll have to check it out. Saw the others though (by the sting i'm assuming you're referring to the newman/redford flick?)

Saw it. Wasn't really a fan. It's one of those contrived acting/directing vehicles that forgot it needed a coherent plot. Reminds me of Stay

Miller's Crossing is great. One of the underrepresented Coen Brothers flicks. Though it seems to be enjoying a resurgence lately.

Wonder if the same will happen for The Hudsucker Proxy?

Or if you want a comedy, you can't go wrong with Monty Python and the Holy Grail

If you like horror movies, I just watched Inside (À l'intérieur) last night. Brutal and gory and excellent. If you liked that you might also like Them (Ils) along with some other recent French horror.

For Coen, it is

1. Fargo
2. No Country for Old Men
3. Miller's Crossing
4. Hudsucker's Proxy
5. The Big Lebowski

at least for me.

Have you watched the other works of Park Chan-wook?

I prefer Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance to Oldboy and I like both more than the final installment, Lady Vengeance.

A few foreign language movies you should check out.
Brotherhood of War (Korean) - one of my favorite movies
Amores Perros (Mexican)
My Sassy Girl (Korean) - they're remaking this with Elisha Cuthbert... blech
The Sea Inside (Spanish) - based on a true story - so utterly depressing

I was also going to recommend these. I own the whole trilogy on DVD. All excellent. Oldboy > Mr. Vengeance > Lady Vengeance.

You might like Lija 4 ever if you're into depressing movies. It's in russian though.

Snatch
The Usual Suspects
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Across the Universe
Dogville <- Awesome flick with epic ending if you can stand the movie's presentation
Lucky Number Slevin
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Darjeeling Limited (I like Wes Anderson)
Ruang rak noi nid mahasan (Last Life in the Universe) <- Thai

And that's all for now, my pizza is done...
