I have come up with the following build based on whatever I know and based on internet research. I am building it for my younger brother who is even more of a newbie than I am. So there won't be any overclocking etc.
Processor - Intel Core i5 4590 3.3 GHz
Motherboard - Gigabyte H81M-S2PV
RAM - 8GB DDR3 Kingston 1866 MHz CL10
Graphics Card - GTX 970 (GTX 960 if it gets available within a month)
Storage - Seagate 3TB 7200rpm
Case - NZXT Phantom 240
Power Supply - Corsair CX500 (CX430 if using GTX 960)
Monitor - Benq 24-inch 1080p
Blu-Ray optical drive
The system will mainly be used for gaming, media consumption, web browsing with occasional Photoshop etc. No heavy productivity work.
So I have two major queries:
(1) Exactly what are the differences between H81 and H87?
(2) Is a SSD worth the price for the mentioned requirements?
I am trying to keep the costs to the minimum and don't want to spend unnecessarily on something that will never be used or is not needed (as it is I who has to pay for it ).
So please suggest improvements which will be worth it (and also areas where I can cut costs further )
