Suggest me a new notebook.

Hi,
I am ready to replace my 3 yr old Dell Inspiron 6000.

It's important for me to have the option of adding a 7200 RPM hard drive. As far as RAM I will eventually have 4GB, so I can either buy with 4GB, or one 2GB chip and just add another one later. Whatever makes more sense financially.

High resolution screen is a must as I usually have mine set for 1280x1024

What do you guys suggest in the $1000 - $1500 range?

BTW I would like a computer that doesn't overheat. My current dell gets super hot, and when it happens it starts running slow.

new ones are out, check the t400 thread, iirc the OP got a nice build for under $1500. maybe not what you want if you want a gaming laptop, but you didnt mention that as a pre-req

Thanks. It's def not for gaming. I do wedbesign, photo retouching and some video editing.
Many times I will have outlook, dreamweaver, photoshop and browsers running at the same time. I usually have 10 windows or more open.
That's why I look for CPU, RAM and fast hard drive.

The have good stuff too. Their business class machines would be my second choice to a Lenovo. The new Dells look nice as well.
