Suggestion for change to the HOT DEALS forum

I've been coming here for years and this has always been "THE" place to get and share information about all computer and electronics technology. I suspect the vast majority of the visitors come here for that type of information and rightly so. I think that is the mantra of this website.

The other day I was in the "DEALS" forum for the first time in a long time to look for some hardware deals. I noticed there were a lot of what I would call non-technical posts for deals such as Big Macs...fries....Subway sandwiches. I guess my question is when did this website deviate from it's original purpose? While not spelled out specifically in the rules...is not the main intent of this place all about technology? Do you really want this place to turn into the QVC Network? What's next deals of jewelery, bed linens and baby strollers?

I personally find it rather irritating and needlessly time consuming to have to wade through line after line of deals about greasy fast food items trying to find any worthwhile hardware deals. I suspect that 99.9% of the people who look for deals find it annoying as well. I was even given a warning by an overzealous admin for only stating my opinion about the non-technical posts for as she called it "thread crapping". Well if you can't state your opinion there exactly where can you?

My suggestion is to make another forum for only technical subject matter Hot Deals and another one for general subject matter. That way everyone is happy and nobody has to read anything off topic. Just my opinion.

Hot deals is there for ALL deals. Personally, I look there for a deal on anything including Big Macs. You gotta eat while gaming on high tech hardware ya know.

Just about anything in "hot deals" I would say (I'd buy that for a dollar) :biggrin:

The forums as a whole covers a wide area of things from PC parts to Relationships and a few monkey wrench's thrown in... So the deal of the day may be a 2600K for cheap or buy a Mac-rib and get the second one for $1... (AKA a hot current deal):thumbsup:

Out of curiosity I just checked the latest 100 deals on the first page of hot deals...

85 tech related (including games).
15 non-tech related (several of which were DVD's and music/mp3's).

Are you really bothered by such a small percetange of "off topic" deals when the other 85&#37; are all what you're looking for. If it was 85 "other" deals and 15 tech related deals then I could see it being annoying, but I think the problem is in your head sir.
