I'm joining my Mom on a trip to the Grand Teton National Park area for a week. Unfortunately she isn't able to do any hiking, bike riding, etc. I'm going mainly to get some awesome pictures, so I'll probably do a little walking around by myself knowing she can't tag along.

A few things I think I'll check out are:

- Fly fishing
- Hot air balloon ride
- Gondola ride
- Floating tour on Snake River
- MAYBE going to Yellowstone for a day or two

Anyone have other suggestions? Am I missing something really fun? Like I said, I'm very interested in scenery, so are there certain places known best for nice scenery?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Damn...I are jealous.

We used to live about 80 miles south of Jackson.

I know of a few streams chock full of some of the finest cutthroat trout....mmmm..mmm..mmmmm

I'd definitely try to fit at least one day into Yellowstone.

This time of year it's probably not very populated, but Jackson is home of the largest Elk refuge in the country. During the winter months, you can go out with the rangers and help feed the herds. (or you used to be able to anyway.)

I work over there quite often but never have much time to do anything. One thing I enjoyed doing was taking a boat ride across Jenny Lake and then doing the hike. If your lucky, you run into bears, dear, and other animals along the way. Doesn't cost too much either

It's been quite a while since we were at the Big Tits, but I remember Jenny lake and Leigh lake as being nice for fishing and canoeing.

LOTS of great fishing in the area plus abundant wildlife.

It's always great to find some "dears" while on vacation, but seeing DEER is also nice...

I feel like I'd need an entire week at Yellowstone to really enjoy it and take everything in. So if I only go for a day, what's a "can't miss"? Hot springs? I don't really care about Old Faithful, not very interesting to me...

wow wyoming... I almost forgot it was part of the US.

I like to visit random places on maps.google.com street view... it's amazing how much Wyoming looks like the rest of Wyoming.

Apparently, you didn't pay much attention then.

Western Wyoming, especially NORTH west is nice. Lots of trees, mountains, etc. EASTERN Wyoming is mostly flat grassland, especially the south-east.
South central Wyoming isn't much to look at.

OP, if you were going in July, (IMO, best time to visit) Pinedale is having their annual Mountain Man Rendezvous.

We've been to that twice...what a party.
