I'll be building a new computer sometime in the near future (I'm hoping the
R350/RV350 will either knock the price down on the R300 or be within my
price range (heh, probably won't be)
Here's what I have in mind:
Epox 8rda+ motherboard
XP 2400+ or Barton 2500+ CPU
2 x 512MB Kingston HyperX 3000
Radeon 9700 Pro (probably.. will RV350 be better??)
120GB Maxtor
..... etc
Anyway, I'd like to do some mild overclocking. If I got the 2400, i'd like to
hit maybe 2.25 ghz, and if I got the barton, maybe ~2.1ghz. I know these
babies can push more, but I want to be super careful and have a rock solid
system (doesn't everyone?). The only overclocking I've done is with the
celeron 300a@450, so I guess that tells you I'm not a hard core oc'er.
So I'd like to get some suggestions on which CPU to get. I'm really set
on getting the HyperX 3000 since it's so cheap and reports on it have been
good. I can't really afford to get as much memory as I'd like with the corsair stuff.
I'd just like some suggestions on this combo.
Also, I realize that the XP 2100+ Tbred B is doing really well, but I've pretty
much decided against that -- I'd like something that runs a bit faster at stock
(yeah, yeah.. I know some of you might say that the XP 2100 and 2400 are the
exact same cores, but it'd just give me peace of mind )
Thanks.
