Suggestions, please

I'm putting together a computer for my brother, as his current computer has recently died. Currently I'm going with:

Seagate 320GB HD
eVGA 8800GT 512MB
Antec EA500
Patriot 2GB DDR2 800
C2D E6750 (Is the jump to the E6850 enough performance wise to justify the $80 price difference?)

The only thing I'm unsure of is the motherboard. I bought a Gigabyte DS3 when I built my C2D computer, and I've had no problems. Neither of us over clock, so that's not something to take into consideration. The price point is right at about $100, and I'm looking for something simple and stable. Any suggestions and help will be appreciated,

the ds3 motherboards from gigabyte are great and don't get the e6750. either get a Q6600 quad or a E8400 dual. the Q6600 is faster, the E8400 is a little faster but cooler.

I would say get the E8400 if it's for gaming, right now probably the best dual core out there and at a really good price. best bet if you're not wanting to or don't feel comfortable OC'ing will get the most out of an 8800GT at stock speed of 3.0Ghz, from my experience, I was bottlenecked at 2.4Ghz, but notice no real difference above 3.0Ghz except in benchmarks, you will need to get a P35 board to get the 1333Mhz FSB and support the 45nm chip
but both gigabyte and Abit make good mainstream P35 boards that can be had for around $90 right now the Abit board is $60 after rebate on newegg.
