Hey, MadRat, how is that theater? I used to live about three miles from where they built that theater, but I moved two years ago... before they even really got started building it. Just curious as to how it turned out. I heard it was supposed to be pretty slick.

Its alot like the 20 Grand up north or the AMC that ElMono mentioned. Not a bad seat in the house, big seats, rows are staggered higher than they used to be, plenty of showings of each movie where its not usually necessary to wait in long lines, and there is superb sound in every theater. I like it considering I'm actually from Plattsmouth, a few miles more south of Bellevue. Its a measily ten minute ride to enjoy a movie.

Go Bellevue! We should all get together somewhere when we're in town. IHOP, maybe?

And Madrat, when I return, I go to Plattsmouth as well. Twin Creek beats the other Bellevue theaters, I'll give it that.

Hey, I never knew about the monthly pass! That's sweet! I would so do that... I admit, I like the Oakview AMC better. I think I saw Castaway there for the first time.

The love story is as bad as it gets - Clancy just is no romance novelist. The logic of the movie is counter-intuitive... basic elements of military units (SAM defenses, C3I, combat range, weaponry choices, etc.) are so generalized or completely ethereal as to make some scenes nonsensical. It just wasn't worth the $4 price of the matinee. I recommend you all wait for it on the little screen.
where do you live that a matinee is $4. for $4 i woudln't complain too much about this movie

In Saint louis, matinees is $4.75 and with student ID it's $5.50 anytime.

I know, aphex, I've got a student ID.

But for a matinee, the price is $4.75. With a student ID ("anytime"), the price is $5.50.

So if you show your card, you get docked 75 cents... interpreting the statement literally, of course.

This is the most boneheaded movie I've ever seen. It's so jawdroppingly stupid, it'll shock you. And I'm not talking about the scene where Baltimore is nuked. That's probably the least controversial thing in the movie, as far as I'm concerned. I thought this movie might be in someway relevant to modern times. I thought it might wake people up to realistic terror threats. Instead, we get more fantasy than the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy combined, and an unhealthy dosage of bullshit left-wing propaganda and political correctness gone mad.

*****SPOILERS*****

The premise of the movie is that a group of European conservatives purchase a nuclear bomb from Arabs near Israel and detonate it in Baltimore in an effort to start a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia.

What the fvck were they thinking? Do they have medicinal crack for sale in California now? They must have been seriously fvcked up to think up of something so stupid.

If there is ever a war between the U.S. and Russia, both countries will probably be devastated. No matter what the outcome, Europe most certainly will be absolutely annhilated.

Having lived in Europe for many years, I can't say I've ever heard of anyone there saying even as a joke that they wished war between America and Russia. That is the biggest fear of all Europeans.

If a nuclear bomb goes off in America, it's not going to be caused by the Russians, the Chinese, or even - the most popular of all Hollywood scapegoats - ''the evil Germans". It's going to be done by Islamic terrorists. This movie has no grip on reality. Ironically, conservative Europeans are actually quite friendly towards the U.S. But that might not be the case after they see this total crock of sh|t movie. It's films like this that make people hate America.n

POSSIBLE SPOILERS IN THIS POST!!!

I just got back from seeing SOAF and I thought it was excellent. Granted I've never read Tom Clancy novel but after this I plan on it. However, can someone shed some light on a couple issues that kept sticking in my head?

1. How can the Isrealis forget/lose track of their nuke that went down in the desert with their jet - for 30 years?

2. Isn't it highly improbable that the pres would authorize a missile attack on Moscow within hours of the nuke attack as they haven't been able to confirm who did it? I know they suspected the russians from the beginning, but since they denied it you can't go off half cocked attacking anyone you suspct without proof. - right?

Its an older novel, developed more for the 1980's than today's world.

The plot suffered severely in the crossover.

I thought it was good movie. Haven't read the book tho, so I don't know how the movie compares to the book. Usually Clancy's books are pretty specific about the technology, but I guess they simplified the movie for a more general audience. But some parts they shoulda explain. While watching the movie, one of my friends leaned over and asked what an ICBM is, b/c the movie didn't explain. For those who don't know, it's an InterContinental Ballistic Missile. Basically a huge rocket that carries bombs across continents. Also the lost bomb was a sketchy story. How can the Isrealis and anyone else not look for a lost nuclear bomb? The US is very careful about keeping track of all nuclear bombs, and they would probably keep track of one they gave to Isreal. These are kinda minor details tho, overall it was pretty good, but if the above were improved, it would probably be better.
